Some useless trivia
This is the model the game makers used to provided the likeness of Altair.
Just bought it. Playing it and enjoying it. Nothing spectacular yet, but the game world feels fairly realistic and atmospheric, and I think it'll be a long time before I get tired of stalking around like a badass and scaling buildings and such. As a vet of the Thief series for cpu, I appreciate games that aren't non-stop action and value conflict avoidance as much as conflict itself....so it's a nice change of pace right after finishing Half-Life 2 and it's add-ons.
🙂
I can feel some holdovers from UbiSoft's Prince of Persia series in the controls and animations, but it definitely breaks from those games quite a bit. I guess I was expecting more of the Prince's moves to be in Altair's repertoire, but I suppose that's more wishful thinking than something that would be genuinely useful in the game.
Almost into Damascus, so it's still early for me. Long way to go.
Play the first mission. Now take a step back and realize the other 8 missions are exactly the same, only with an increase in annoying drunken NPC's who will bump you, but no one else, constantly and break your 'stealth' (as if the game has a relevant stealth system) in the process, because the devs couldn't think of a valid way to increase the difficulty as you progressed.
There, you've effectively played Assassin's Creed all the way through.
Honestly, I think the ridiculously high scores for this game were purchased.
I traded the game back to gamestop about a month ago for Company of Heroes. To put that in perspective, I never trade-in games.

Great trade-in.
One crappy game for one absolutely amazing game.
I'll go even further to state the whole game is repetition. From hitting the 1 button to fight, to doing the same 5 missions every time, to climbing towers for no apparent reason (explanation is garbage in this game) to the same voices and speeches in each three cities.
Oh you get to collect a shitload of flags too. Also, what's the point of having that massive open country to traverse if there isnt anything to do in it?
These developers took alot from different games but they could of easily learned something from Zelda, GTA and other open world games. People want variety. Thinking to myself about how good this game could of been makes me want to cry.
In the end, the whole theme of this game is repetition. Everything.
Backfire, you have a point about the scores and how they could of been purchased. I remember how X-Play gave it 5/5, while giving Crysis 3/5 and stating that it was just another shooter. It drives me mad because Assassins Creed is just another open world game but without the fun and some cool animations. Atleast Crysis was fun and didnt get boring at all while Assassins Creed is a snooze.
Okay, guys, I believe you've made your points. Valid ones, too, but seriously. You don't like the game, don't bother with the thread. Assassin's Creed, just like most other "could have been much better" games, does have fans, and I'd rather not have to deal with the whining that will happen when they come in here and see a crowd saying the game is shit.
