Putting it all together...spoilers

i think it is fabulous...I'm like you...wasn't it you that said it...I have actually highlighted the book and wrote notes in the margin. I love Jack in AWE...i know at first he seems darker, but he's not really, as and usual he always has a plan......and I love how smart Jack is....

this is one of my most favorite parts too...

SPOILER:

Jack was not going to watch his ship sail away - again. He glanced around, looking for a way to get himself over to the Pearl. His eyes widened, and he ran over to one of the cannons. Shoving the gunner away, he quickly flipped the cannon over so it was facing toward the Pearl. Before Beckett could even react, Jack had wrapped a rope around the cannon wheel, a burning fuse lighter in his hand.

"You're mad!" exclaimed Beckett.
"thank goodness for that", jack said. "Or else this would never work."

Ha, I love the line right after that too because it really high lights an interesting question.

"Do you think he plans it all out," he asked, "or just makes it up as he goes along?"

I agree, I love how smart all three of the main characters have become. They each have finally learned how to navigate in the Pirate world.

I think I love the part when Jack figures out the riddle of the map.

His intelligence makes me want to jump him. I like the way he tricks everyone into tipping the ship over. I think I've said that before somewhere, but I'm just repeating it.

Also, the fact that he's been playing Beckett for a fool this entire time with his air tight plot is fairly remarkable. Beckett is expecting Jack to double cross him, but he doesn't ever realize what Jack is doing until it's too late: Jack is in the prison hold of the Flying Dutchman. Tell me that's not a kick ass battle of the wits!

I'm kind of glad I'm single. That way I don't have to feel guilty in thinking naughty things about Jack 😛.

Anyways, the coral Jack is still a mystery. Now that you mentioned him being behind bars at the Flying Dutchman.

Good point. I can't see him becoming coral Jack during that time because then he wouldn't be able to get the heart, even though that would be a logical space to slip that in.

It may be a threat from Beckett or Jones, just to make Jack's time on the ship REALLY unpleasant, but it doesn't really make sense. The most logical explanation thus far is that it's a scene from his hallucinations in purgatory.

My thought about it has always been a dream sequence from Elizabeth. They are in a journey to find him, and she was dreaming in the first film. I don't know. I can't bet anything on it because I'm not sure.

That, or a hallucination like you said, savvysparrow.

There's a thought. I never actually considered it might be someone's nightmare other than Jack's.

Do you think Jack and Bootstrap Bill will meet again when Jack is on the Dutchman? I'm trying to decide how it is he comes across the heart?

Also, when do Murtogg and Mullroy switch over to the pirate persuasion?

i freaked out over that part..i can't wait to see it on the big screen...jack is soo smart...and he does seem to be more like he was in POTC than DMC

other parts from that scene...

On board the Pearl, Barbossa saw Jack come flying through the air toward them. He couldn't believe it. Typical Jack. True, he was escaping, but he was doing it in the most dangerous and foolhardy way possible. Barbossa winced as a series of horrible crashing sounds signaled Jack's arrival. He peeked his eyes open agian to see a path of destruction across the deck........and then, standing on the rail, looking completely relaxed and unhurt - jack sparrow himself!

and then back on the Endeavour....

Beckett knew the Endeavour would not be ready to sail again for quite some time. Jack Sparrow had seen to that.

Groves stared after the Pearl in admiration....shaking his head. "do you think he plans it all out," he asked, "or just makes it up as he goes along?"

that's a call back to POTC when Groves says, "that has got to be the best Pirate i've ever seen"...
and Norrington says "and, so it would seem."

I love when Jack is being smart, clever and outfoxing his opponents, Jack is one of a kind. Will's plans tend to back fire on him, but by the middle of the story, he too, is cathing on...and of course, Lizzie she is very smart and clever too....

Ladies, what about this....when Liz meets up with Norrington on the Flying Dutchman....

{ Despite the evil presence of Davy Jones, Elizabeth stood straight and tall. Her eyes were cold and betrayed not a hint of the emotion Norrington knew she must be feeling. There was no question, the woman standing in front of him was no longer the refined governor's daughter....she was a pirate captain through and through. }

and earlier in the novel...Liz is thinking about Jack:

pg. 49 {Would they find Jack in the Land of the Dead? Was there a way to bring him home? And....would he forgive her for leaving him to his death? Jack Sparrow was a pirate through and through, Elizabeth thought. He knew that one often had to use underhanded means to get to desirable ends. He knew that she had been saving everyone else by chaining him to the mast, and he had even seeemed proud of her piratelike actions. But that didn't mean he was going to be thrilled about dying. He would blame her, and she wasn't sure how he would react to seeing her again. }

That's quiet sad. This could be a possible dream sequence of Jack--the coral Jack that Elizabeth dreams. Still not sure.

It's possible. Anything is possible in this film. There's not really a whole lot out there that's explained that one shot. I think it's really interesting that they chose to leave a lot of the part of pugatory out of the novelization. It must give something important away in the same way that Teague's absence insinuates that his role is more important than a simple Cameo.

yes, they leave out the part about Jack shooting himself in purgatory..and I bet that is significant in understanding why Jack is acting the way he is...in the beginning....

I can't wait to see everything we've read about and all these pics and clips come to life on the big screen...never before have I known stuff like this about a movie before I ever saw it....at least this time when I see it....maybe I'll understand what is going on...unlike in POTC and DMC it took two to three times of seeing it to understand what they were doing and what the plot was......

Still not sure about crusty Jack...I haven't given it much thought. I've always thought perhaps it was a dream of Elizabeth's...or perhaps a dream of jack's...i don't know.....but I just can't imagine...if it's not a dream...how he comes to look like that...

Whoa! Why, hello there.

That's a very dark look. I wonder where that comes about. He looks angry...hmmm....
