Putting it all together...spoilers

Well said, dear Kate....girls love rogues and good guys do finish last....and yes, T and T have said that Jack and Will are the romantic view of Pirates..not the raping, plundering, stealing type of Pirates....
In fact, Gov. Swann said it best at the end of COTBP....sometimes, Piracy in itself can be a good thing....when Piracy is done to help the less fortunate....to rebel against laws in society that are corrupt in themselves......

and yes, evil in these films come in the form of a little short man in a white whig and a sparkling coat jacket..and works for the established EITC....

so tell me Kenny, in AWE, will you be rooting for the EITC of the Bloody Filthy Plundering Pirates???

I meant "or" the Pirates...

oh Robin Hood.... sigh. Disney has a monopoly on the hot rogues, don't they?

Ahem. Sorry. Back to intelligent discussion.

Newbie here, just spent all morning at work catching up.

And I must say, there is no chance, and I mean NO CHANCE that Jack will end us with Liz. Granted, the films have shown evidence that she's been having doubts over her feelings towards Jack, but she loves Will. She was going to marry Will, even after meeting Jack. I just can't see Jack and Liz together. Jack is too much of a free spirit to want to be tied down. The whole thing with Gibbs and Jack (with the strumpets) could simply be a parting of the ways for Capt. and First Mate. Jack then looks back because he is off on another adventure.

And the whole "Will Becomes The New Capt. of the FD" angle. Honestly, could anyone see it happening before these scripts came out. He could have stolen the FD while the crew were off attacking another ship. With Davy behind Becket, there could be a case for overthrowing the leaderless crew and taking the Dutchman. Doesn't mean that he's the new Capt. indefinably.

And on those scripts. Have they been authenticated? There could be 101 reasons for that script being leaked, so I personally wouldn't use it as a bible for who the film is going to go.

Although I did enjoy the possible plot lines, I do think you're all reading too much into some things. And Jack will not end up with Liz. Period.

Actually, it's been confirmed that Will is the Captain of the Flying Dutchman since the official packaging on the toys for call call him "Captain Will Turner". Sorry mate, you're a little off target there, but it's nice to hear a fresh perspective.

Kenny, sorry, we don't mean to gang up on you or anything. Please give it back to us in spades. we're in need of good debates. 🙂

Ok,can't take anymore. I want spoilers. I can't wait till the movie to find anything out.

Kenny...by the way. We are not saying that it is definetly going to be Liz and Jack.....it's what we all want...but none of us are sure...in fact, at times, we are downright scared about it...but it makes so much sense to all of us....the clues are all in both movies....t and t surely did spend time putting too much into some things for it to mean nothing...in fact, alot of the things we use to speculate about and others came on here and told us we were crazy...are the same things T and T point out in their DMC Commentary.....

Ok, hang on. Lots to respond too.

Savvy - I never could have predicted it too happen, and I still don't see it as a convincing character arch for Will to capt. the FD (well the FD in it's current "evil" state).

Tigers - I'm firmly on the side of the pirates, and completely agree with Jack being the romantic view of them. But my point remains that he is still and always has been, a pirate. In the first film, he lies (to the dockmaster), manipulates (the two guards), takes hostage, resists arrest, steals, attempted assault.... and thats all on entering and leaving Port Royal. All crimes. And who says he doesn't murder. Does everyone forget the death of Barbosa at the end of COTBP?

ah... but now you're straying into the territory of "murder" verses "revenge"...

No apologies needed, just don't brand me as a trouble-maker!!

oh we won't! many of us have been kicked out of other sites for being trouble makers, so we welcome them here. 🙂

And what about Jack sending Will to FD, to settle Jack's debt? 100 years on the Dutchman will kill you, so is that not attempted murder?

Will all dues to you guys (or girls as it may be), you're all wearing Jack-Tinted glasses and not seeing Capt. Sparrow for what he is: a pirate!!

Ugh,and I had just gotten rid of that from my brain. 🙄

You must remember though,Will was able to meet his dad because of that.

actually, no... we like him BECAUSE he is a pirate. that's why we understand that he does sketchy things sometimes. he is a pirate, so he is allowed to do piraty things, right? he always has a plan. he wasnt just going to leave Will there. He's 10 steps ahead.

and it all comes down to this: this is a movie, not real life. no one's actually hurt by any of this, so just enjoy it!

Really? Not real? I always though this was a documentary!

Gravitation - does the ends justify the means?

Kate - I'm not debating whether Jack is popular or not. This whole debate started with me saying that Jack is not whiter-than-white and it would not suit the films for him to finish with Liz.

Mmm... well do you think Liz is whiter than white? That might be the clincher on this question... because I for one view Elizabeth as a full on pirate at this point.

everytime I look at your name I think of Kenny G. hehehehehe. 🙂

I'm not talking about the Now-Murky-Gray-Liz. But is all Liz's actions a means to an end? Immoral actions for the greater good?

You said it Kate...if we are judging by what's whiter-than-white...then why should Will end up with Elizabeth....Elizabeth is just like Jack...even T and T have said it.....Jack sacked a port without firing a single shot....Liz hijacks a ship without firing a single shot....
And you know...Jack shooting Barbossa..there's a difference between cold-blooded murder and revenge (for his attempted murder)..plus, if Jack doesn't shoot Barbie, then Elziabeth is dead...cuz Barbie was shooting Liz, just as Jack shot Barbie....

and as far as Jack sending Will to the FD to settle his debt....that's not why Will was sent to the FD....and besides, Jack knew that Davy would never accept Will as equal payment for his soul...and he knew Bootstrap was over there to look out for Will..and like Ted and Terry say....Will knew good and well what he was getting himself into....go listen to the commentary at that part...they defend Jack to the end....
