"I think I get it actually, which scares the living day lights out of me. I read an essay by a film student, not Lovelyone incidentally, analyzing the film from a Feminist persuasion. In that anaylsis, they say that the Kracken is a female symbol and Jack's sword is the male....You put two and two together. This isn't a health class...Anyway, that's probably where the idea came from."----------savvysparrow.
Yeah, she had a whole theory that it was the sex he was SUPPOSED to have and it kind of went hand in hand with the key/chest = Will/Liz thing. Will has to find the key, Liz (the girl) is supposed to find the chest. Rod A goes into Slot B....
"I've heard that the reunion between Calypso and Davy will be touching. I also imagine that the pieces of the story that we've been told about the Calypso/Davy saga are either not entirely correct, or may have been exagerated like Jack's legend.
I suspect that Calypso was not so fickle as they have made it seem."----also savvysparrow
That makes complete sense. I think it takes more than heartbreak to make someone so bitter and angry they become as sadistic as Davy is. He never wastes an opportunity to make someone suffer even more. He really is the devil of the sea. I think there had to have been a dark side to him in his former life that maybe Calypso saw a little too late and felt jilting him was a way to protect herself. I can't see either of them being completely innocent.
