Ummmm, well in the script supposedly it is Ragetti who releases her and she has to be spoken to like a lover. Apparently, Barbossa tries and fails. Only Ragetti knows how to do it.
They can't exactly put that in the book, now can they? Especially since Calypso is Tia Dalma, which they convienently left out.
There is a lot from the movie they left out of the book. I don't think Will gets James' sword in the book, for example, but I'm fairly sure he is given it at some point after Jack pushes him over-board.
There's another part of James' death that is rumored to exist that didn't make it into the novel either, although I'm not sure how much weight I give those particular rumors.
Also, it seems that the backstory about the Pearl has been cut again, or else they just didn't put it in the novel.
I'm still in shock that Norrington kisses Elizabeth in the book; I hope that is in the film as well.
What novel did you read? The backstory about the Pearl was in my book almost verbatum of what was in the 36 page script.
And yes, James' death is avoided in the book, though implied. It also explains where that scene is where Elizabeth is in the water screaming. She's screaming James.
Hats off to Surreal!

I'm not all shocked but yeah, it kind off caught me by surprise.
Well, they had to give him something. There are a lot of Jack Davenport/Norrington fans out there. Ted and Terry also have a fondness for him, so why not give him a royal send off befitting of an admiral?

oh it makes perfect sense now i wasn't thinking when i read that part but with Liz hair up talking to Bootstarp then her hair up still falling in the water. You know in the novel she didn't pull away when he kissed her.
Well, to defend her, she was probably pretty surprised. And if you're of the Norrington persuasion....do you blame her? 🙂

I'm not sure you know what I meant lol. I meant that I was surprised they wanted to have a kiss scene with Elizabeth. I didn't mean it in a bashing way.

okay i was watching Pocahontas earlier and it reminded me of POTC okay here is what i am thinking. When poco. was talking to mother willow she was talking about a needle spinning and spinning and keeps spinning then finally stops and that reminded me of Elizabeth then it point to John Smith he will play Will into what i am getting at anyways it points to him sorta and it is like a new adventure and in the end she ends up with John (Will) yet her father which is the boss of the tribe wants her to marry kokohum but she doesn't he is like (norrington)
Okay then in the second movie journey to a new land she thinks John is dead and goes to a new world with another man i already forgot his name but he will be Jack anyways back to topic she hangs with him and they have their few moments together then John shows up and remember this is Will we think he is dead or in this case Davy's Locker The new guys and John fight over poco and she ends up in Jail and they stop the bad guy which is beckett and in the end she could be with John or sail with the new guys and she chooses the new guy and yes this is a disney movie where she chooses the other guy not her first love and i remember lovethemtigers talking about poco and POTC together. well it finally occurred to me about POTCJust wanted to share this with you and alot of people think becasue it is a disney movie sparrabeth won't happen becasue they were not thinking of Disney when they started the movie it is more for adults like California adventure is more for adults than it is for children.
jackismyboo..thanks for giving me credit...i mentioned that months ago...have you always been jackismyboo or did you have another name at one time....
yes, when people use to come on here and say that disney always makes it end with the first love...i used Pocho as a different trend (although it was based on a "true" story).....I love the part when John Smith tells Pocho that they have grown in different directions and he sets her free and gives her his blessing to pursue her relationship with Rolfe.....so yes, it doesn't always end with your first love.....
Ah, you're right. I forgot that the back story of the Pearl is in the novel. Silly me. 😄 That's what I get for reading it too quickly.
Yes, we needed a kiss between James/Elizabeth. Honestly, when he ran off with the chest in DMC, I kept saying to myself that he should have kissed her then.
Poor Liz would have been royally confused then. 😛 Three hot men kiss her in the span of forty minutes...I don't know if she would have been able to hold up under the stress.
Of course, I would have happily taken her place...😉

yes i have always been jackismyboo but i have flipped through old threads to see if i have missed anything and i remember you saying that.
That is how I imagine Will would say to Elizabeth so she can persue her relationship with Jack i highly doubt Will would want Elizabeth to stay on the island forever and age and wait every ten years and have children and help them grow up and have their children older then Will. I think ten years someone can run out of love it is possible. But i think Will would want her to be happy and be with Jack.
