When Kitty is underground, she has to hold her breath. Storm knows Kitty has to come up for air sometime. She can just track her movements and remove the air from the area where she sees Kitty coming up.

Storm is not written with this power consistently because if she is always given her full credit, she's nearly unbeatable. The instances where she is taken by surprise, etc, are PIS. You'd have to go to extremes like Dr. Strange or Cosmic to give her grief. Very few characters short of this can give her a truly hard time. 😄

At any rate, I think its obvious by now that Kitty is grossly outmatched here. 😄

In the scan, Magneto was able to hurt Storm with the lightning because he caught her by surprise with it and thus her body did not compensate for the energy surge. Also, when Storm is injured, her level of control over the elements is weakened. This is especially true of the lightning as was shown in a battle against Proteus in an earlier issue. I bring this up because I want you to note that though her control would have been severely lessened because of the initial attack, she was still able to challenge Magneto's control over the bolt.

Now, here is why its PIS:

1) She should have been able to feel/sense Magneto warping the EM fields in the storm to attracted that bolt from the sky.

2) She should have felt the bolt before it struck.

3) She cannot be directly harmed by the manifestations of the weather according to some issues. We don't go by PIS on this board.

In regards to who can toss the more powerful bolt, Storm has focused the full electrical fury of a storm into a single bolt of lightning. Anything Magneto has done with electricity is a joke in comparison. Heck, she once summoned a bolt of lightning that blasted from the sky all the way down to the Morlock tunnels. The Morlock tunnels are either 1000 feet under the ground or 1 mile (5,280 feet). I forget. Storm has also been able to fly on a bolt of lightning as well as disperse that electrical attack from Blitzkrieg who's control over electricity FAR outdoes Magneto's.

Well, there you go. Another inconstistency of her "energy-seeing" ability.

Regardless of her being damaged and whatnot, if her control was so vastly superior to Magneto's, she still should've been able to overpower his control. I don't buy it, just seemed like Magneto had greater control in that scene.

Kitty can breathe while underground and phased into things. She does it...pretty much all the time. How she does it? Beats me. She's the one that can phase through things.

Hellion could take her.
Cyclops could take her.
Pre-HOM Quicksilver could take her.
Northstar could take her.

Then why is it she tells people to hold their breath if she leaps with them underground? Why has she nearly drowned from being under water too long while phased? You will have to produce an issue that states that she can breathe while immersed in other objects since there are sources that state otherwise. If you can produce her speaking, that doesn't count as she is obviously only using a portion of her air supply to say what she has to say.

Oh, and she beats the characters on your list. I only question Hellion as I don't know who he/she is.

I don't mean like try to encase her in ice, I mean drop the temperature. It screws over your thought process and your muscle control if you get cold enough.

Not so. Storm's control over lightning lessens if badly injured. This is canon. She was badly injured prior to trying to exercise control over the bolt. That said, the issue stated that the only reason it hurt her was because it caught her by surprise. Magneto had nothing to do with that save attracting the bolt from the sky. The fact that Ororo's powers are frequently lessened in Magneto arcs actually works against Magneto. If he were so powerful, she would not need to be weakened. I have no more respect for the Magneto character. Powerful characters like Storm, Apacolypse and Thor are constantly being written down for this character. He does not have the power either of these characters have. Sorry. Also, stop making a big deal about the EM spectrum thing with Magneto. If he can exercise control over related forces of magnetism, it is VERY limited at best. Magnetism is his primary power and its the only area of power where he has done anything noteworthy.

I think it's VERY fair to assume that this blast was more powerful than any electricity Kitty has ever encountered and most likely anything Storm could create.

Easily, I can claim that. I believe she has held her breath to the center of the Earth. Also, she has traversed great distances by holding her breath, leaping into the earth and allowing the earth to spin while she is no longer held down by gravity or something like that. I believe in this issue she grabs Jubilee, tells her to hold her breath and then they leap into the earth.

In the scan you posted, she only said a VERY few words while phased in that wall. She obviously used just a portion of her air supply. Her head was where air was available on the first and third pages.
