The globals have been dragging their feet for, well, months now. We have posting habit matches, familiarity with certain characters and members, as well as local IP matches (which are far harder to mask than exact socks, which are easily dodged). As well as multiple "eyeball" confirmations by mods, members, etc. Oh, and a few warnings on this account as well, which almost amounts to a perm ban in and of itself (and definitely the temp ban I recommended, which did go through, btw). At some point, it seems, we lost the trust of the globals. I used to recommend bans based on forum protocols, provide the evidence, and it was done. Anymore, not so much, and I'm not the only one. I can't say I know why, since no reason has been given. It's mainly been a big silent treatment while we metaphorically wave our arms helplessly, trying to get noticed.
It's a shame, really, because it undermines our ability to properly control our forums. Especially in cases like this, where the poster has shown no improvement, has socked, and is as immature as ever. I'm not trying to sow dissension, because I genuinely like the globals, but I've said these exact words to them, so it's nothing they don't already know. It's also so that you guys realize that we (the comic mods) are not turning a blind eye to this, but have been actively working to keep the forums controlled.
Given the current state, and my inability to enact bans in some situations, the best we can do is welcome fangirl (sock or not) and hope that he behaves as he should on the forums.
....
As it is, using the word damn in the context that I did was for emphasis. "they damn well please" was not even directed at fangirl, but modified the actions of others, which a simple analysis of the sentence would tell you.
And a hearty lulz at equating discussion over a tiers thread to civil rights. Yes, I'm clearly repressing the voice of the people, instead of facilitating a democratic vote ( 🙄 ). And if you'll re-read my post, I also invited you to continue with your dissent, which is perfectly fine as long as it remains within forum rules. You're welcome to continue to post on the topic, though I called it fruitless, which it likely would be after such a decisive vote.
I also offered alternatives to getting upset at the list (making your own). All in all, it was a fairly progressive post intended to help you. The fact that you choose to see it as an insult and overreact is your own problem.
