Then why are there other religions? The answer is simple: humans make religions to order their societies. Christianity is no different then any other religion. They are as equally right and equally wrong as any religion on the face of the Earth.
Those who know Jesus understand that our relationship with Jesus is not a religion. However, there are religions because humanity has an inner knowing (apparently planted by God) that God exists. It does not matter what part of the world a person lives on, there is an innate credence in the existence of God and the spirit world. There is no culture on the planet that does not worship a god. They may not all worship the God of the Bible, but they do worship a god of some sort. My question is why? Why is there this universal, world-wide "God-concept?" I believe that God (the true God) created in every person a void that the only He can fill. We all have this void. We will never experience true divine peace (in our hearts) until we acknowledge that God exists and that He sent His Son to die for our sins. If you have not done this then you do not have the peace that God gives, in your heart. You can't figure out why you are so miserable, suicidal, and joy-less. It is because you do not know or have the love of God in your heart. That love is shed abroad in your heart by the Holy Spirit once you become born-again. You become born again the moment you confess that Jesus Christ is Lord of your life, that you repent of all of your sins, and that you need Jesus to save you from your sins. The moment that you pray this you will be saved. God will instantly take up residence in your heart and life. God will pour His love and peace into your heart and life.
