Well, supposing I know what an honor killing is, I'd say it depends on the occasion. For example, you kill yourself in order to escape the humility of having raped another man; that wouldn't qualify as an honorable killing of yourself. Of course, this is all based on the idea that I know what an honor killing is. Seems pretty self-explainatory. I'll feel really stupid and embarrassed if I got the meaning wrong.

No, it actually comes from the Zen Buddhist soul part fusing with the great devotion to family from Shintoism. And yes, it still is Buddhism.
