USH'S MATRIX GAME 2006 FOURTH ASSIGNMENT (COMBAT)- 'The Real'

Started by General Kaliero50 pages

Two bursts at 6 o'clock Mid.

Hawk hears Sequel and braces for impact. "Damn it, this is gonna hurt..."

Mors snarls as the Sentinel's second swipe tears off the headrest of his gunner's chair and cuts across his leg, then fries the bastard after his "Welcome aboard" comment.

Once the second one heads for him, he turns his gun on it, sending the voltage straight into its eye-cluster.

"Shiitt! I'll shoot at the sentinal, and get the hell out of the front turret.
If the sentinal is blocking the way, I'll try to shoot at it and slide under.

Afraid it'll have to be the praying, Cloud. Still, three successes on your attack roll is exactly what was needed, except a bit of a waste now you already hurt it. And now its friend is in melee range.

San- dead-on kill! But what kind of help were you thinking?

Intrusion and Observation both very useful skills here, Melis.

MALFUNCTION- Hawk's gun is down. He also had a very poor shooting round, so presunably the gun was buggering up due to the heat.

Good shooting, Mors- you got your kill, and you aren't cut up too badly. But you are really not built for this kind of exertion.

No time for shooting, Burn, not at this short notice. Only time for diving like hell out of there...

Unfortunately, Melis, sneaking ain;t much good if you don't know where your target is. The sentinel that buried into the rear was making its way to the cockpit and you just ran headlong into it.

Port section situation on Percy is critical! Structural integrity is failing.

-

And at this point the Shez samshes into the end of the tunnel.

It was thinner than it looks, with lots of little passages through it that the Sentinels use. Nonetheless, ships are not built to take solid objects head-on. The noise sounds roughlly like the front of thr ship being smashed to pieces- good reason for that; front turret is lost, the windscreen explodes all over the cockput and ten points of damage are inflicted to the section, which has already been severely weakened- this is a critical issue to the Shez now. Everyone is knocked over, or down, or to the side by the impact. The Percy, wobbling as its left side threatens to come off and as more engine roundels are cut loose, follows through in the Shez's wake.

The atmosphere changes. Well, the force ten gale blowing into the cockpit is part of that, but suddenly everything is different. No more cramped tunnels or sewers, but the gloomy, oppressive yet still strangely beautiful vista of the surface world.

Burn, you pick yourself up, and find yourself confronted with a. the sentinel you were fighting who escaped with you and b. two more who had been sneaking up behind you.

-

Incidentally, there has been some replacement and duplication. To confirm, current 'unaccounted for' numbers on sentinels are correct. Those now found have been replaced by more going inside.

Ares claws at the gun controls to keep him in his seat.

"Son of a..."

Then, he is hit by the strangeness of the surface.

"We're on the surface?"

"Fry!" Melis shouts as she is suddenly confronted by the killing machine, and shoves her plasma gun in its face.

Mors picks himself up, keeping an eye on the hole that the Sentinels have torn in his turret.

"Everyone alright? Sequel?"

He moves to repair his gun.

Fry the other one quickly.

"I ain't afraid of no squids!" Cloud shouts as he pulls the trigger again.

Ush I assume LGR means "Low Gun Right" am I correct?

Yup!

"Aw, hell..." Hawk picks himself up and starts figuring out what is wrong with his gun.

"The... the surface?" He's momentarily distracted by that fact, but then gets back to work.

"Shit! You little bastards!"
Is there any where for me to run?
I'll fry the one that was in the cockpit with me.

two bursts at the sentinel attacking my turret!

"Yes, that's the surface," Mors says.

Mors checks the displays of the ship.

"The structural damage to the front of the ship is looking terrible, but we're not going to be able to blast off any Sentinels latching onto it. We'll have to pick them off before they get there, or this ship is going down. Fast."

Mors will set about repairing his gun.

Help was mostly wanting Melis to get down here and start going after the sentinels as well, since her turret is busted.

Though Cloud, you might want to get the hell out of there. Like, as soon as you possibly can. That part of the ship is about to fall off. And I'd like to keep people from dying as long as possible.

Meanwhile, San's going to take advantage of probably the only break she'll get in this fight to make a medicine roll and hopefully take off some damage, while looking to see where the next place a sentinel might come in.

And Barb says he will pick off the sentinel on the engines at 6 o'clock mid.

I will be moving once this git is down, unless I can move and shoot without any drop to my already minimal gun pool.

Sorry, been making an error with the Percy. Unstable section is starboard, not port.

Hawk- no fix-it, no chance.

Mors- barrel is distorted. Two turns to hammer the round out, -2 penalty to the gun thereafter.

Burn- well, you can try, but they've caught you both ways, and are faster. You fry the one that was with youy, though all three get attacks on you...

Melis- two successes, nice try, and you seem to have kept it mostly at bay...

Cloud- got it... and it missed you too, as you finish it off.

Fire, your massively overheated gun fails after the first burst; the attempt at a second basically means the gun is lost. Sentinel has not quite cut in yet, though.

San- no healing, I am afraid, though you can stop yourself bleeding.

Barb rolls one success, but that's all he needed.

No more cards now we are outside- attacks are evenly distributed.

Burn, more sentinels are coming in the front, i.e. behind you. Your position is not good; the front part of the ship was left inadequately covered, mostly due to people firing guns whilst hot, which has rather doomed the Shez cause.

Cloud- another sentinel comes in immeidately.

One going for you, Hawk.

Sequel cries out in alarm- the Shez cockpit is under attack...

And those of you with the leisure to look...

... see an amazing sight out there. The great achievement there ever was; a great, thrusting tower, spearing up towards the dead sky; attached are intricate and complex pods, in clu,ps, and each clump next to another clump, all the way up and down the tower. And next to the tower, another, and another, and another, a whole row of towers, and a whole group of rows, repeated over and over as far as the eye can see in front of you.

Almost the entirity of the Human species lays in front of you- the Power Plant.

Something you register the moment before the Machine defences activate. Guns and missle launchers spring out of the ground.

Shit! We can't do anything right, and now I'm gonna die...
shit
.
Err can I run towards the cockpit are? or is it still blocked? Because if it is, I will fry that one, and try to run that way.

I'll hurry out of turret towards the cockpit, unless I can shoot the squidie on the outside of my turret with a gun (which I doubt)

I'll fry the next one too, moving back into the main section, if someone can take over port for a couple of turns so their damage can catch up - or so my damage doesn't look so bad.
