i know right? haha.. maybe its the fact that i get flustered when i get attacked and don't have the troops and i would have no idea how to react.. i tell you though, watching those rush moves on youtube is awesome.. that scv rush was wicked.. those koreans are crazy.. its like their superbowl..
are they still giving away beta keys?
YES.

So with the beta offline for the next few weeks I've been playing offline with some modified AI bots, they're surprisingly good for a player made mod. Still enjoying the game.
Taking this time to try and learn the other races as I'm starting to get tired of Terran, at the moment I've been really enjoying the Protoss. Zerg have some cool things but I have trouble with them. Not a fan of the whole organic buildings thing they have going, and they're just so squishy.
Also funny, i was looking back at the early portion of this thread where people were talking about how uber powerful the Mothership seemed back when they first revealed it. How things have changed, it is now supremely underpowered to the point that you almost never see it unless it's as a novelty.
Yeah it's strange because its cost is still that of a super unit. It costs 8 food (2 more than any other unit in the game), it takes forever to tech to, and it's expensive. It's cool that it cloaks all your units, but it gets focused so fast that it's almost moot. Whenever I see one in a game it's just a free kill.
Also it's a shame that the Ultralisk is so garbage right now. Such a cool looking unit, wish it would get more use.
i'm not hugely into rts's but i do like 'em with command and conquer generals being my favorite one followed by 3, then wow3, then act of war, then bros in arms but this game looks way too technical. not that that'd make me back away from the challenge but will it even be fun? like it seems because it may be way too technical as a game it'll be boring. and I think, with all games, there should be a fun factor.
I've never played pt. 1 and I know starcraft is suppose to be the top rts of a time but a long while back I remember watching this starcraft tourney on youtube with like the best player in the world playing, I think he was korean, and he was just moving at light speeds placing structures and weapons and it seemed so mechnical that it didn't even look fun. but yet I only hear good things about the game.
it's been on my mind for a long while but my question is, can a casual rts player pick this up and enjoy it as a game with all it's complexities it seemingly offers or is the game mainly or only for advanced rts players? i'm thinking it's the latter cause I know starcraft is a hardcore game.
Starcraft is only fun when you play it with people who are on your level. If you play with someone who is better than you then it isn't fun because it's too mechanical, if you play with someone who is way below you in skill then it's no fun because if you're their ally you have to help them out and if they're your enemy it's a stomp.
Starcraft isn't a fun game to play competitively, like on a Tournament level, imo.
