Starcraft 2

Probably pre rendered.

I'm looking forward to this game. Have been for quite some time. It will be nice to play a somewhat older schooled RTS.

Looking forward to this. However I probably won't be able to win a single match in multiplayer. ^^ The reason: I am horrible at micro, I'm more the type of player who sets up a strategy and let's the AI handle it from there. However I'll probably have lots of fun with the editor.

The beta is back up, through July 19th.

Also, they added all the AI difficulties to the game.

OH!

Must go check it out!

Yep. Since the matchmaking system has been completely broken since beta came back a few hours ago, I've been playing against the AI. It's nice to play against a computer opponent that doesn't make 3 units over the span of a 20 minute game. At very hard it actually gives out a pretty good challenge.

... it appears that having not played for a while it is having to download half the internet to patch it...

Oh bugger, Bnet is down for maintenance.

It's up here in the US, but it's buggy as hell. Was just now finally able to play my first online game a few minutes ago.

You can pre-load the digital version now. Just putting it out there.

I've heard down the grapevine that the game is really unimpressive, unfortunately. At least compared to the original.

Like who from the grapevine?

As cliche as it sounds, I have a friend who knows a guy who was on the blizzard development team for the game, and he said that the system is okay in some areas but it really sucks in other departments.

The system? You mean bnet 2.0? Yea, I heard that it had some serious issues and that the delays were because of bnet, not SC2.

Well I've been really enjoying it for the most part. I've played about 400 multiplayer games so far in beta. Makes me very excited about the single player because my buddy at Blizzard said he thought the multiplayer was pretty unimpressive, while the single player is excellent.

As far as Bnet goes, some people have complaints, not me though. It's fast and easy to find a game, it pairs you usually with someone with comparable skills, and the ladder system is addicting. Also the achievement system is very fun as a meta game. There will be some people playing this game for years just to try and get every portrait, which unlocks via achievements. Unless you just have a huge boner for chat rooms and other things of that nature, the new Bnet is very slick and is quite good.

BackFire, I've heard rumours that the new Bnet enforces an artificial ping/letency limit. Is that true?

I'm not sure what that means.

I'm not sure what that means.

I meant that, for example, you can't get lower than say 50, no matter how good your connection is.

I'm not sure. I've never even checked my latency in the game. Feels perfectly fine while playing, though.

Not sure on getting it yet. I really want some more info on the editor.

The editor is pretty amazing. People have already made fps games and space shooters. And that's just during beta. I am very excited to see what people will make after having access to it for years.

Also some people have already gone about remaking the original SC games in their entirety. I don't think you have much to worry about with the editor.
