Starcraft 2

Well I've been playing, and it is good at what it is, but clearly this type of straight-up RTS doesn't interest me any more. It's all frantic clicking, econ management and really a feeling of detachment when I see enemy units die or buildings blow up. I can't seem to care about winning.

And I really hate that econ management. It is purely a barrier to my enjoyment of the game.

The editor is pretty amazing. People have already made fps games and space shooters. And that's just during beta. I am very excited to see what people will make after having access to it for years.

Also some people have already gone about remaking the original SC games in their entirety. I don't think you have much to worry about with the editor.

That was a beta reward, apparently.

They've not lost their cut scene touch, of course. Well, I look forward to trying out the single player soon.

I'm looking forward to this game. For the SP and MP. Haven't played it yet but I'm looking forward to a bit of old school RTS. Another thing I'm looking foward to is to play with my friends. Unlike other RTS like my favourite Company Of Heroes, everybody I know is buying SC2.

Imma have to say that the cinematics look AMAZING.
Loved watching them.

If I weren't so poor, I'd be able to buy this game at launch.

The cinematics do look really good. The whole single player portion looks like it should be excellent.

edit- Ush, do you know if we can play together despite being in different "regions"? I remember that in the first game there were like four servers that you could choose to join. Is that the same here, or are we forced to play in our region?

Got my copy tonight at a local midnight launch. Been going through the campaign right now and have been really enjoying it. Nice varied missions for the most part, and murmuring about on the Hyperion in between missions is a fun diversion.

Can't wait. Played some of the original Starcraft last night and man, do I suck at that game.

lol I suck at this game. Medium difficulty Protoss bot kicks my ass everytime. As Terran I don't really have a good answer to their Sentry spam, at least I haven't figured one out yet.

I haven't installed any game in a while considering most PC games come out on Steam.

But I must say, the packaging is damn good for a boxed retail. Comes with a few codes that allow your friends to play without paying for the game and a cool notepad. Seems trivial but most games have nothing with thier packaging.

Yeah I liked the packaging as well. Was a little disappointed with the skimpy instruction manual, that was always something I liked about Blizzard games - a nice big intuitive instruction booklet. This one's pretty basic, though. The notepad is a nice inclusion though.

But after logging into the game, i was blown away about the interface. its so cool, and crisp. I like it better than Steam.

Man, I really wish they hadn't gone the non-linear route with the story mode in this one. I didn't like DoW2 and all the expansions after Winter... somethin, for the same reason. It really kills the immersion factor for me. Why is it so hard for them to just present a story to me rather than have me "make my own destiny"?

I don't think introducing elements of choice into a campaign is a bad thing.
