The siege tank nerf might be pretty big - I'll have to test it out, but Zealots should pretty much hard counter tanks now.

The other changes are meh. The zealot nerf makes sense because early all in Zealot rushes were very very powerful, but now protoss are going to have a very hard time stopping a 6 pool by zerg.

wtf.. i can't log in after the patch.. this is pissing me off..

Me neither. Made me sad.

arrrgh.. f*cking blizzard.. my shit keeps on crashing.. i don't even get the chance to type in my password.. 🤨 🤨

The minigames are super fun.

For Terran, a couple of well placed turrets will take care of an early banshee push. If you're afraid to leave your base because of cloaked banshees, a Raven with your main force will be helpful. Also an EMP on the banshees will drain their mana. Of course you can also use a scanner sweep to expose cloaked banshees as well.

Problem is, you have to build out around your base with properly placed turrets. I've seen some lower-level players put a turretn right next to their resources to catch the economy r*pists, but those are easily taken out by just a couple of banshees.

And, yes, the EMP idea is good. But, again, one has to build out Ravens quickly to catch the banshee rush.

The thing is if they are doing that banshee rush, they're going to be pretty vulnerable to a rush. Cloak for banshee is very expensive, especially early on. To get banshees cloaked that fast you're going to have to skimp on defenses and ground units, so if you see that they've got a very fast starport with a tech lab, just attack. That's why you see a lot of people do a very early push with maybe 3 or 4 units. Because if they're teching a push like that can flat out win the game, and if they aren't teching you just fall back. It's an effective way to scout and possibly do significant damage without much risk.

This is what I was thinking but I end up with two bunkers, 2 seige tanks, 4 marines, and 2 marauders before I can build 2 banshees that can cloak and can reach their base in time. It takes a bit to actually build out to and research banshees. You should have a second base by the time you can build out a cloaked banshee rush. Unless you were amassing lots and lots of troops, 2 seige tanks, 4 marines, and 2 marauders (in bunkers) is enough to fend off even a moderate sized attack.

As Zerg you can probably get an overseer out just as banshees are coming in. If not, just get a spore crawler. Yeah, Zerg don't have as many options.

I had bad luck, there. It just takes forever to get out an overseer and/or spore crawler. I hate playing as zerg. They should "de-tier" lots of their stuff.

As toss it's not much of a problem, just an observer and a few stalkers will take care of the banshees until you can get a few cannons up. I always built a robo facility pretty early when I'm playing against terran and get an observer so it's not usually a problem.

Yeah, I can counter the Terran's fairly well when playing as protoss, when they are doing their early rushes. Protoss, though, can easily be taken down by destroying their Pylon before losing even one banshee. (I'll run some tests to see if it takes 2 or 3 banshees to take out one pylon before 3 phase canons can take ou their craft.)

But, yeah, I don't mind playing as Protoss against Terran.

Oh and yeah man, people cheese a high levels. Lot of protoss and terrans I play try to do proxy crap. Proxy gateways spamming zealots is very popular and powerful, and the reaper all in rush is pretty powerful too. Both of those are getting nerfed with the coming patch next week, though.

I really hate the reaper rush. Hate it with a passion. Same with the Banshee rush. Thor rush is really ineffective, IMO...but it can be effective.

Holy CRAP! I just read the patch release notes. Seige tanks were NERFED big time. They may not even be usable now. lol

Nah, they're still very usable, trust me, lol. against Zerg anyway. Since the only ground units Zerg ever use against Terran are Zerglings and Banelings (35, and 30 HP, respectively) with a single weapon upgrade a tank will one shot any Zerg ground unit sent against it, regardless of armour.

Hydras should be stronger against tanks now, though.

All of my home mouse sensors are broken (I only game with wireless mouses.)

So, I can't game. 🙁

I am too poor to afford even a crappy $8 infrared mouse.

Needless to say, I have not gotten the opportunity to mess around with the new patch. Has gaming dramatically changed because of the patch?

There's apparently some ridiculous Ultralisk bug right now that causes their attacks to do some horrendously powerful AOE attack that pretty much kills things in a huge radius. There's some video on youtube showing it and it's pretty hilarious. The thing takes out a Planetary Fortress AND all the SCV's that are trying to repair it at the same time.

Aside from that, just the stuff in the patch notes. Siege tanks a little weaker, zealot rushes are a thing of the past. Reaper rushes are a little less crazy. And desert oasis isn't a terrible map anymore.

To something else, I've been doing some 6 pooling as zerg lately, by lately i mean I've done it twice. It's pretty damn powerful I have to say. Both games were wins. Seems to catch a lot of people off gaurd, and truth be told, it's pretty funny to watch.

Actually, the Ultralisk thing isn't that OP. I've tested it. haermm The AoE is only huge if you attack a command center/nexus/ect, becauseo f how Ultra splash works. It's the size of your target+2. So, on a huge building it's huge, but anything outside 2 range of the building is fine, so it really isn't that bad. It's worst for repairing SCV's, but to hell with them.

It IS being fixed though, and I do think it is OP that they can kill SCV's on the otherside of a PF without running around to them, but meh. The Ultra problem is both hilarious and a bad sign. Did blizz even TEST?

You know, I'm sure this doesn't really mean much because I very rarely play online, but, it's occured to me that out of the 30 or so competitive matches I've played, I have never lost to a protoss player. 😐

So, campaign won't load for me, now that I've d/l'd the patch. It gets about 3 quarters of the way through the loading bar, than the game freezes.

As I haven't finished the campaign yet, and I'm on the 2nd to last level, and I've done it all on hard, I will kill a mother****er if I have to start from fresh.

Sounds as if I should wait until that's fixed with installing my newly acquired game.

Nah, if your game is new then you're good. The problem with my game was that my saved file was saved using patch 1.0 settings, so after 1.1 came out my old save file was incompatible. However, I did manage to get it to load (It wasn't frozen, it just went about 7-8 minutes without loading at all, then suddenly started loading up all the way), and once I beat the level I was on and moved on to the next, the game automatically updated my save to 1.1, so it's all cool now.

For you though, if you haven't even started campaign yet then you're good. Just download patch 1.1 at installation (will probably be automatic), and your game should work fine.

I really really liked the diamondbacks. I understand that they removed the unit due to its redundancy as a ground only attack unit.

But, I really really really liked the attack on the move feature as I like to play like that. (micro). It basically eliminates the need to micro. With some Vikings, it's a very nice combo.

The diamond back is a retardedly good unit yeah. The diamondback originally didn't exist, there was only the... uh... whatever that Terran flamethrower vulture thing is, and it had the attack on the move feature. Blizzard thought that that shit was too OP though for multiplayer, but they didn't want to scrap the tech so they just overhauled the appearance and threw it in campaign.

I'm sure everyone knew that already, but my ego demands that I explain commonly accepted fact to everyone.

I want it! Waaaah! 🙁

I've installed after all but now it froze for over half an hour while trying to update. Maybe I'll have better luck tomorrow.

I've got one up on you: I haven't been able to play for about a week and a half.
