Ultralisk splash nerfed into the dirt, rarely used unit is now useless. JOY. 😐

Well, it was bugged before. Ultras are still solid.

It wasn't actually a bug, and Blizz never recognised it as such, it was just an "issue" which occured due to the way Ultra splash works.

The problem is instead of changing how it worked against buildings, which would have made sense, they nerfed Ultra splash range into the dirt. It's worse than it was in 1.0 now, and they got a damage nerf in 1.1. Blaaaah.

Man, it's hard playing with friends sometimes. 8( Screams the only person on my friends list that I've played with that doesn't play every match like it's on a fastest map.

Will catch you for some games soon if you're online. 😄

No, it was definitely a bug. Blizzard recognized it as such in a forum post about a day after the patch was released and said that it would be fixed in a coming patch (Today's). A bug in the splash damange, which is what "issue" means in this case.

Also the game is still young, balance changes will continue to happen for several years. If Ultras really are weak, they will get buffed.

The first time it's been called a bug to my knowledge was actually today by Netheara, and really, it's just Blizzard not testing their freakin' patches. It wasn't a bug in the sense that it was an error or glitch, it was just how the Ultralisk's attack worked. It did +2 range splash around it's target. If you applied that to a PF, the fplash range clearly got kind of insane. How Blizzard managed to not notice this in the almost MONTH between telling us about the patch and releasing it, I have no idea. 😐

The kick in the nuts is that the reason ram was taken away was to be sort of a miniature buff to Ultralisks against buildings with repairing SCV's which are pretty much gawd right now. Then they took it away AND nerfed us. It's just really frustrating.

Where's the hotfix for autorapaired Thor rush? Where's the hotfix for hiding a nuking ghost under a floating barracks?

Meh, I'm clearly pretty frustrated. The balance better come eventually. I just have no idea what the hell Blizzard was thinking.

I did not know about the hiding of nuking ghosts under the barracks. That's so funny. I love it. IMMA try that OUT! hahahahaha

It only really works if your ghost is in a bioball. It makes targetting the ghost difficult, we'll say, since you can't A move to it and you can't click it to attack it. You can see it if you scroll your mouse, though, so remember that.

I thought about doing the bioball thing (lots of marines around one cloaked ghost launching a nuke) but not about doing the flying barracks thing.

It's still funny when I think about it. 😆

I definitely agree that it was silly that this bug/issue/error or whatever you want to call it made it into the game.

I also agree that Zerg need to be buffed pretty significantly, I'm just not sure if it's the Ultralisk that really needs the help. From my experience, Zergs usually lose before they even have the chance to get an Ultralisk out. I think their early and mid game needs to be worked on more than the Ultra.

That is true, it's just the way it happened is harsh.

"Here, trade some damage for utility"

"Wait nvm, utility is ghey, we're taking that back and shrinking your splash."

D:

The Ultra is not what needs the most help, but it's just... Well the nerf certainly can't help things.

Like I said before, some of the zerg units need to be de-tiered so they can be built out faster. I think that would even things out. Do you dudes agree or disagree?

If not that, at least make more 'multi-purpose' buildings where much more units are unlocked for production. That was my problem with playing as Zerg: it just took too dang long to build out mid-tiers.

I was playing as Zerg for a few games this morning, and I was thinking about Banelings. What do you Zerg players think about using them as landmines? It seems like a relatively easy task to break up a bioball by just burrowing a horde of banelings and drawing the bioball through whatever route theyre hidden at. I'd imagine a dozen or so banelings could tear up a bioball faster than med e vacs could heal them.

Banemines are really awesome, and funny. And yeah just a few well placed burrowed banelings can wipe out an entire army of marines.

This is a staple strategy of mine that I used whenever I see a barracks with a reactor. Sadly, Terrans seem to have learned Zerg can actually counter mass 'rines.

Which race do you guys play most?

Any of you guys ever go to the SC2 forum? Good lord, every thread is a complaint. Like literally, every one.
