*sigh*

In any event, McDuffie was talking about Stardust being HURT. Nothing more, nothing less.

I doubt Stardust could react anyway. The nature of the attack did not allow for it. Nothing was getting thrown at her so she could dodge. She was getting thrown at HERSELF.

In all probability, she probably didn't know what was going on until.........

I gotta find out some more stuff about the sub-atomic as it realtes to causality.

It was a cool attack.

Why is it when I correct you on a blaring error you've made you pretend we're debating something that only you can see? You made a mistake. I was talking about last month's discussion and you tried correcting me with something from this month's discussion. Man up or shut up. It's just that simple, sweetheart.

Haha, now I'm saying it.

Its still doesn't matter what issue/discussion, really.

He was refering to them being unthinkably powerful, but not untouchable.

This means for all intents and purposes, irrespective of anything, they can be harmed....BY STORM. And they were. 😎

Nothing more nothing less.

You still don't understand so I will use bold. Maybe you can read it better.

Don't tell people they're referencing something wrong when you have no clue what they're referencing to begin with. Get your proverbial **** together before you post.

Bleh. People can't own up to their mistakes these days.

Your reference didn't matter, though shocklaugh

It was relevant to the person's post I quoted. I think it just chapped your biscuits because it entailed dumbing down Heralds and not dumbing up Storm.

I know it came after your post before I corrected it, but it clearly had no connection to anything you said.

Let me break it down for you.....

It doesn't matter because it is a reference to speed ie getting physically tagged by xyz characters. It has nothing to being hurt by Ororo's energy manipulation powers ie wrenching electrons from Stardust's body.

He was making reference to the armlock and Panther's surfboard jump that these "guys" were bitching about saying it shouldn't have happend yadayadayada. He was saying that Silver Surfer get's tagged all the time.

His analogy/parralell with respect to these people's btichfest about Storm was simply: "more powerful is irrelevant, I'm(McDuffie speaking of himself) is more powerful than a Kitten, and for whatever reason, the kitten can still hurt me".

It had nothing to with speed, but rather the nature of an attack and it's affect on the victim of said attack.

From the "kitten analogy", we can deduce that it hurt.

Therefore any reference to the Hulk's right cross, and a Herald's FTL speed being susepnded is irrelevant, since Storm's attack had nothing to with speed/reaction but rather durability with regard to Ororo's attack.

It hurt for whatever length of time.

It is what it is.

we can also deduce that storm is a kitten compared to stardust, a grown adult. and, we can deduce her attack was similar to a cheap shot, such as a kitten scratching his cornea or femoral artery. at least he admits the cheapness of the scene; whereas you're attempting to, again, "glorify" it, and in turn, are bringing infinitely more criticism than if you'd just stayed quiet in the storm respect thread.

False analogy.

Kittens have no sense of "cheapness".😐

It's rather...... power is irrelevant or wasn't relevant in the context.

Try again.

tell that to the fancy feast cat.

in the sense that the cat could have scratched his shin, mildly inconveniencing him, or scratched open an artery, the range of the cat's ability to hurt a grown man varies greatly. since mcduffie compared storm's attack on stardust to a kitten opening a man's femoral artery, we can easily deduce that the shot was as lucky and "cheap" as a cat's accidental positioning of its claw while scratching a fully grown man.

either we're using all of his references, or none. and if his "unthinkably powerful, not untouchable" reference counts, so does comparing storm to a kitten.

Talk about War on Analogy.

War on Analogy - When conservatives pick apart an analogy by bringing in utterly irrelevant details. For example, if I write "Iraq is, in many ways, like Vietnam," a graduate of the wingnut debating school will respond with "You're wrong! Iraq is in the Middle East!"

This is from some "Wingnut Debate Dictionary" thing but the point still stands.

Actually, it wasn't. That's just what I posted as the reference. The whole thing is about how Heralds, Surfer specifically, have this high, god-like peak but have been taken out by lesser things. He was talking about portraying them in the "lesser things" area for the sake of the story.

I knew in the back of my mind somebody was going to think it was purely about speed.

Ok, I have no problem with conceding that she is less powerful than Stardust and Silversurfer.

Yet, that doesn't/couldn't stop her from hurting them whenever she got ready. That's the point of the analogy.

I mean it was like "WAKOOOOOW".......TWICE.shocklaugh

Storm was gettin' in that ass. 😆

well, it could. there's more than a handful of things both heralds could have done that would have not only stopped storm from hurting them, but also put her down permanently. they are heralds of galactus, after all.

and regardless of her hurting them, it's still pointed out in the analogy that she's a kitten compared to them. which is my point. which establishes the hierarchy of power. which, regardless of mcduffie's explanation, sets the stage for what would happen in a reasonable confrontation between storm and a herald.

She is mistress of the Elements, after all.

Yes, a kitten that can make you disappear by ripping electrons out of you all while not working at full power, or create supercharge atmpsphere of Hydrogen atoms to zap you with god only knows how many volts.

I agree with her being a "kitten".

Comparable power levels matter not. The pain does, though. 😎

An Aikido analogy would have been perfect for this situation.

So if the person was aware the kitten was going to scratch their eye, by all means they could just grab the kitten and throw it a block and a half, killing it easily? Or I guess... you could just put it on the floor.

Well that makes sense. They did both of those; Stardust hurling Ben and... otherperson towards a sun and Surfer giving Storm knocking her on her can with a mild zap.

Not if you're blind. WAKOOOOOOOOW!!!!!

w00tduster

Blind people can throw cats.

they probably have a higher rate of the cat being thrown into a wall than sighted people, but they can still throw.

i enjoyed her being able to manipulate atoms to the extent of gathering hydrogen and siphoning electrons from a being composed of the power cosmic, yet she still needed that nifty little bracelet to breathe. i mean, one tiny zap to that thing, and she would've been pretty much floating meat. by your own admission, the void of space seemingly killed her before. it's a wonder, all her power, but she really was only surviving thanks to a piece of jewelry
