I thought the zombies sucked.

I liked the Alt ending a lot better and the zombies did sucked.

I haven't seen it yet, but I read it goes something like this:

The lead vamp/zombie/creature realizes that Smith is trying to save them, when he see's his mate (the female he captured) alive and semi-healed, so he calls off his hoard, picks her up and leaves Smith and company alone. You're lead to believe that they're not completely animals and they've retained a semblemce of their humanity. I'm not sure if they show all of them making their way to the human sanctury or not.

There's a scene in the previews where Smith is looking down/humble and the lead ZOmbie is growling about an inch from his face, mouth fully opened, kinda saying "yea, what now *****.", that's basically the beginning of the alt end.

Can someone who's seen it confirm, if not, I should be getting it soon.

I haven't seen it yet (the ending, I mean), but I heard it has something to do with Will Smith's character realizing that one of the zombies tries to communicate with him - basically, that they see HIM as a monster, just like he sees them.

I gotta check it out, but I'm not sure I want to buy the movie just to see an alternate ending.

almost...although i took from it this

the main "monster/zombie ex human" didn't want his, what we presume to be his wife, to be healed because when Neville takes out the drip her breathing becomes rapid again...i guess we're meant to take from it that they dont want to be healed

but yeah it pretty much goes as you described

as they are trying to break down the glass the main zombie stops and draws a pattern on the glass with his greasy hand...its the shape of a butterfly...the girl zombie on the table has the same pattern (either as a tattoo or on her dress...cant remember which)...Neville notices and asks the woman that saved him to open the lab door...she questions it but does as he asks...all the creatures come in and surround him and as they are about to attack Neville the main one screams and they stop...neville takes out the drip as i mentioned...the main creature picks up the girl...again the creatures go to attack neville but the main one warns them off...they leave....

after that neville, the woman and the boy are all in the car...you then hear a similar message to nevilles "this is broadcasting on all known AM frequencies" message but done by the woman telling people that they aren't alone and that there are survivers and to go to that safe zone where the film finishes

Sounds happy clappy ending, Hollywood style. Glad they ditched that.

Both endings are happy endings compared to the book.

I doubt I'll see this movie anytime soon, if ever. My aunt said she fell asleep during it.

The first half fo the movie was good. Wait till the second half to fall asleep.
