DC Comics: The Final Crisis!

The story was great. Even with Dan messing with Grant's original plans.

Just read a review, **** me they he tried to fit a LOT into one comic. The thing should have been longer than seven issues. The same was true with the last crisis. When you consider that original one was 12 issues, and secret wars was like 100000, its only fair that this one should be granted the same treatment.

I would've liked it if they left the entire "Monitors Gone Bad" subplot out of it altogether, and for DS to have an actual cool body and do something with it. Granny Goodness got an Alpha Lantern's body FFS. And I think it should have been 8 issues, like Reign in Hell.

Maybe there is more but in different interpretation, other time, another subplot ,tie in and etc .DC work are uncalled for after all.

Like Quan said, Legion of 3 Worlds has been great so far. Wish Perez would hurry the hell up so #3 would stop being delayed, though.

Yeah, having two "ultimate" evils at the same time completely took the threat out of both of them. Mandrakk was completely necessary and the evil Gods could have easily filled his role.

I only asked because in one page Wonder Woman is still under Darkseids control only to be back to normal a couple of pages after without any explanation. Did she got back to normal in a different tie-in?

oh, that... lookaround

well, afaik, she only did it after DS got finished off and anti-life started to fall apart...

LOL @ two evils. As I was reading this, I wondered how they were going to bring Mandrakk in or leave him out completely. Then when they finished off Darkseid and their was about half a book left, alarms started ringing. Damn straight, Mandrakk appears out of nowhere and decides to start shit (LMAO at that point). And that heroes started popping up left and right? And the GLs (who had 24 hours to save Earth from Darkseid) ends up killing Mandrakk instead? But more useless were the toon like Hog and Bunny. WTF were they there for?

This event sucked from the beginning to the end. One of the worst event I've ever read. Legions of 3 Worlds and Rage of the Red Lanterns show never have been tied to this jumbling event that seemed like it was written by Mad TV. As for Secret Invasion, it was good either but was a lot more better than Final Crisis.

LOL @ posters here who tried claiming the New Gods were Celestials on par with Galactus. WTF?

I told Raoul the exact same thing the other day.

DC makes these things needlessly short, with all the storyline and plot here they could EASILY have fit Final Crisis into 10 issues. I mean, we suffered through that godawful Countdown for like 50 issues.

I agree...now that it is over we see how bad it all came together...such a mess, bad all the way thru to the end.and to think there were so many praising Morrison's style...his intelligence..and the lack of intelligence of those who were not enjoying this very badly done crisis...definitely the worst of them all!

The funniest thing i read in one review, in regards to how incomprehensible issue 7 would be if you hadn't read Superman beyond. I think its hilarious that when kids collect this in years to come in trade form, the ending will make absolutely no sense to them.

Darksied dead .... Yeah, so who the **** is this guy ? Why this random-er decided to show up out of the blue, claiming to be the "ultimate evil", when the ultimate evil just died ? I think it maybe a metaphor at how ridiculous these comic events are. I.e. it doesn't matter how Uber the threat is, and how lucky the heroes are for finally saving the day; there's always going to be comparatively uber threat around the corner.

I don't why the heroes even bother any more?

What makes this event even more insulting is the fact that Morrison is trying to sell it off as the "Final" crisis. The ending with Nix Uotan trying to sell readers this as the final crisis had made this story feel even more ridiculous than it already is. It's bad enough that this story came into print but that DC is trying to make it important is laughable. And if there's anyone who disagrees, well did you already forget about R.I.P. Batman and last week's OMG this is huge comic moment: Batman is DEAD!! What's supposedly a significant event for comic fans ends up with him showing up at the end of the FC 7 still alive.

Furthermore, people have been bashing Countdown and DOTNG for having no relevance, just DC trying to milk moolas from Morrison's FC. Well then what in the heck is R.I.P. Batman then? Was that not written by Morrison?

Batman is the symbol he will never died as long as evil still out there.

Yeah, I know. But isn't Final Crisis the day evil wins? (Ignoring, however, every other event where evil shows up to momentarily win only to lose at the end like FC#7)

The day evil one for about half an hour.

There are still so many ambiguities to tie up ....

For instance can New Gods now only inhabit the bodies of 3 Dimensional fifth wall beings ? If so do they retain their transcendental powers? Well its seems like they retain some of them, i.e. the Omega Sanction, but don't reatin others; for example Kalliback wasn't able to beat that tiger thing, even though he's basically the son of the Devil.

Also what the hell are the New Gods doing now? There was a panel of them, but it but it was a clear as pig shit whether or not this was metaphoric, or definite. Are they going to be abstract conceptual "spirit guides" now, or do they exist in a physical sense ?

Was Wonder Woman a double agent ? If so why didn't she do better job ? Why the **** was she immune to the ANti Life equation ? If she wasn't a double agent, then why the hell did we get that pannle of her taking off the mask ?

Why didn't Darksied take on a far more suitable host body ? There are ****ing zillions of corruptible, uber powerful host bodies out there (Despero, Krona, Sinestro, Black Adam, to name but a few). If Morisson wanted to do the whole, i'll take the form of someone that Superman won't harm, why didn't he go the whole way; Jimmy Olsen, Batman, even ****ing Louis Lane to name but a few.

Are we to reasonably believe that the ultimate uber Anti Christ Monitor thingy can be killed by stake impalement? The guy can kill the Spectre, but would be powerless against Vanhelsing and a sharp piece of wood .... NO, just No !

What did the rubik cube thing do in the end ? What the hell was going on with the whole Kamandi, Anthro, Metron "trinity" ?

He got staked by a dozen GL's, while the "Judge of All Evil" was weakening him, while being heat visioned by fifty Supermen.

Not really a bad feat.

It was three GLs...or was Kyle there to make four? (I forget.)

It was many more than that. Re-read the beginning of six, and check out how many GL's are following Hal to Earth. It's implied he brought an army of them.

Meh, Superman has already saved the omniverse by vibrating, so I wasn't overly impressed with that. ermm

Srsly though, from start to finish FC was the definition of an epic story imo. Like someone else mentioned, it seemed like a bit too much was crammed into the last issue (there probably could have been 8 issues) but it was still fantastic nonetheless.

I wonder, would what he said be the life equation that they were calculating earlier ?

For me, this style of storytelling was the most effective. It leaves some things up to the imagination while at the same time letting you know the important parts and interpret them.

And the conclusion of Revelations was stunning as well 👆. Plus, you really get to see the difference in powa between Spectre without a host, and Spectre with a host.

When Spectre started kicking ass, it reminded me of the endind from Wanted.
