Transformers Sequel?

Well, I'd be sorry to see Fox go. 🙁

I'd miss Fox too, but if they could only bring one actor back from the first one it would have to be LaBeouf.

I'm sure that they could find someone else to stand in front of the camera and say "whoooooooaaaaaaa" "Wheeeeyyyyyyyy" AND the trademark "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh" while flailing their arms.

Seriously though, I recognise the need to carry on as they started out etc, but I still think that his 1 dimensional regurgitated 'even stevens' performance could wear a bit thin by the third movie.

I will watch Disturbia soon, though, In the hope that you all can see some acting range in him in that movie that Ive not yet seen.
I hope to be pleasantly surprised.

But beyond that, Im not anti-LeBouf or anything. 🙂

Nice that they make another one. The first one left a lot to enhance, even though it was ok. I hope we see more action instead of drama in the future.

but remember...

they need a solid story

I'm pretty sure TF 2 is a go-go.

Paramount also makes millions of dollars in ticket sales from DreamWorks' live-action hits. This summer, "Transformers," which Paramount co-owned before buying DreamWorks, grossed close to $700 million worldwide. It's expected to be a giant DVD seller later this year. Paramount could net as much as $200 million once all revenue streams are counted, according to industry executives.

The new film franchise will spawn several sequels and other cash-generating opportunities and could single-handedly make the DreamWorks acquisition worthwhile.

That's not to say Paramount hasn't lost money on any DreamWorks movie. For one, director Clint Eastwood's expensive war drama, "Flags of Our Fathers," which grossed less than $35 million domestically, lost about $40 million for Paramount and its financing partner, Warner Bros.

"We looked at this as a long-term deal," Grey said. "Clearly in 2007, it went even better than we imagined. I'm delighted we made the deal."

Even if he leaves, Spielberg will remain the crown jewel of the acquisition for many years. He and director Michael Bay have signed on to make "Transformers 2," scheduled to hit theaters in the summer of 2009.

Michael Bay has said that if he returns, there might be an aircraft carrier character. That mother****er would be HUGE.

Yeah... But still not as big as devastator. It might be cool to use that new concept character to aid the autobots in fighting devastator.

ALSO, I'd like to see Prowl in the sequel... It would be B.A. if they had a fast cop car battle between him and barricade.

ALSO, ALSO: Hot-shot, Arcee, Grimlock, Soundwave, and a shite-ton more flying transformers (autobots as well as decepticons).

Does anyone have ideas for voices?

like i said(somewhere)

the thing they all merge into should just be named Gravedigger
and Bonecrusher's character should also just be renamed

How about calling the constructicons... DEMOLISHER!

i'd also really like the dinobots to be brought in but i don't really think it would go too well...i mean for the most part the transformers were kept secret. a city-full of people saw them but apart from that only the government, the army and sam and mikaela know of them so the whole thing could be covered-up [or at least attempted to have it covered up maybe as some kinda military experiment gone wrong (another country's military of course =P)] so really the "robots in disguise" are still in disguise for the most part

but aside from that, the dinobots could crash near a museum and end up scanning dinosaur bones (with upgraded scanners that also pick up biological materials...could be explained as being due to where they went to as refugees after cybertron). would be kinda ironic, given their stupidity, that they "originated" from a museum.

I agree that having dinosaurs walking down the street would not constitute being "incognito", though I still want to see them. What if, when they scan the fossils of the dinosaurs in the museum, their transformed mode could be of dinosaur skeletons? That would give them a cold-neo-megatron-feel...

FYI: I apologize for my earlier statement about devastator being BIGGER than an aircraft carrier... no way. I was thinking about a carrier aircraft (C-130, etc)... would be cool to have that, too

Screw changing the constructicon's names.

When one man ignores him advisers and displays his ignorance in a movie normally, (They repeatedly reminded him that Brawl was called 'Brawl', but noooooooo non-fan Bay went with Devastator instead, thus screwing up any chance of accuracy in the sequels) I normally wouldn't care so much....

But that fool has painted himself into a corner on his first installment of a trilogy franchise.

Im beginning to think now though, that the reason was fiscal.
Too similar to G1 at any point, and royalties'd have to be paid to other people, instead of getting the capital for himself and the studio.
And Bay-Brawl would with the correct name, have been too similar to the established 'bot to tank character we knew and loved.
And then he couldn't take any credit for design/conceptualisation.
These copyright issues have long been a factor in current and re-issue TF naming. ("Autobot Prowl" "Battle Ravage", the "Jazz" "Autobot Jazz/meister" thing were upgraded names designed to escape copyright grief.)

Just a thought.

wow

i didn't know that

Oh for real... Its like G1 Jetfire had to be renamed/redesigned for similar reasons.

The (wicked!) toy was imported by Hasbro into the TFs line from the Macross/Robotech world for release in '84/'85.

So Marvel/Sunbow had to redesign the Comic/Cartoon model to the much bulkier, more square design that we knew as "Skyfire" when robotech went to TV screens.

Until the release of the 'classics' range Jetfire recently, there had never been a transformable toy version of the G1 Skyfire design.

I know that in the first movie, GM received buko gratuity for the autobots being modeled from their line of cars... does ANYONE forsee a potential problem in the sequel? (in other words: if Bay HATES to give away money, do you think he'll hold back on using additional companies' vehicles just to save a couple of bucks?)

we might see a dozen more GMC's

lol 😛

If it does become a trilogy,I suppose somewhere down the line the conclusion will involve Unicron right? The only problem I see with that are those pesky little humans.Won't they just get in the way when the Autobots try to destroy a planet-sized robot? Well,I guess that's a bit further down the line,we are talking about 'Transformers 2' after all.

-The sequel should dive a little deeper into the Transformers mythos. You know,Primus,Unicron,Energon, etc.

-Longer running time.Yeah, you heard me.I know some critics were whining about how the 1st movie was around 30 minutes too long. But the hell with that,I wouldn't mind seeing 3 hours worth of Transformers action. Both Spiderman 2 and X2 were longer than the originals and they also happened to be better than their predecessors. With that said...

-BIGGER isn't always better.Meaning, sometimes sequels tend to double up on everything that made the original a success,so then the second movie will be twice as successful.Examples of this are Ghostbusters 2 (mediocre) and Men in Black 2 (terrible).I personally do want Transformers 2 to be longer, but it doesn't mean it should feel OVERSTUFFED.

-Megatron.You know he'll be back, somehow.Even though his body has been completely destroyed and is miles deep under the ocean,I imagine his Spark is still barely active.Probably due to the fact that his Spark merged with The Cube. All he really needs to is assimilate some sort of technological device, and slowly make his way back onto the main land.Which leads us to...

-Do we want just a group of dumbass marine biologists who happen to "stumble" across Megatron in their mini-sub? Even though it is pretty tempting to see 2 people getting mangled to death while 'Mini-Sub Megatron' transforms.Or...

-Do we want an organization (american/foreign perhaps) that decide to experiment on the dead Decepticons? Mainly to create a weapon system nearly identical to the Transformers, after seeing their destructive power in the L.A. incident.Megatron can either play possum and plan his resurrection unbeknownst to said organization,or they can successfully contain Megatron and experiment and communicate with his Spark. We'd basically see them playing with fire throughout the movie until they eventually get burned.

-The 'Big Bots'.Namely, the Constructicons/Devastator.I think this is a must for the sequel.Audiences are still very impressed with the regular Transformers and they'll probably still be equally impressed with the new batch in the sequel, but Devastator will definitely add that "Whoa WTF" element to the movie. 0_0 Megatron should play Dr.Frankenstein and create the Constructicons,to fight off the Autobots and Starscream when he gets back. Now,how should the Autobots fight against Devastator?

-Should the Autobots create and/or recruit a Big Bot of their own? Or should Optimus step up and fight the damn thing by himself? I'm sort of leaning towards Optimus IMO.I figure Optimus Prime will be hauling his trailer in the sequel, and we all know that thing can be full of goodies. So I wouldn't mind seeing Optimus combine with the trailer, transform into a big bot,and fight Devastator head on.I think Optimus needs a much bigger role in the sequel, they need to show why he's the leader in the first place and ultimately make him into a character that audiences can admire.(my only fear is that they'll end up doing that only to kill off Optimus at the end. X_X cheap...)

after reading that, i was thinking

maybe some top secret organization should take Megatron's spark and communicate with his holographic head. while he secretly takes control over the whole place and repairs his body(which is in this secret facility) and upgrades it a bit(arm cannon anyone?)

I think Jazz should've been a Honda S2000

If you go on the sector7.org website they have some pretty impressive videos of possible future transformers ie. Grimlock

that's not actually for the movies
