The ratings themselves all have to do with maturity itself. They rate the games based on ages they feel can handle the themes of a certain game. GOW games are for an older audience and if you'd ask the creators they'd agree. I have even heard the dante's inferno creators say we didn't make this for kids.Zelda games are made for kids not adults can enjoy them as well but the themes in these games aren't as mature by the esrb as it considers the gow themes.
Theyuse the word mature not because they just picked a random word but because games like this are for older audiences than games with teen ratings.
If you were right about your position both the gow and zelda would have the same rating but they don't just like I stated it's obvious gow is for an older audience than zelda.
He doesn't have super strength. You take feats out of context and ignore how he's portrayed and magically think the guy can play tennis with lightning like reflexes. Still the best country in the world by far and I was never fat as a kid.
GoW is considered a 'mature' game because it is nothing but endless gratuitous blood and gore. That is ALL the M-rating is used for.
Zelda is not designed for just kids to enjoy. It is designed for everyone to enjoy. When will your mind wrap itself around the fact that E != "Kids only"? We have been discussing the maturity of Zelda's plot and how the game is presented. It can have these things without being an endless gore-fest like GoW and DI.
And no, America is far from being the best country. It is in fact rather a cluster**** and tends to fall far behind other developed countries in many areas.

I know what the ratings are. Far better than you do, I'm sure. I didn't need to run off to wikipedia for that info. And you might have a point with "adults are 18" if the ESRB was legally mandated. Which it is NOT.
Mature simply means that it contains content not considered appropriate for most minors, period. A kid can still buy an M-rated game with parental permission, for example. An AO-rated game? Retailers won't even touch them with a ten-foot pole.
Just...gah. How is this difficult to understand? Everyone else seems to get it just fine.
The fact neither would suggest these games to kids while you wouldn't have a problem letting a 7 year old play a zelda proves my point for me.

The ESRB merely labels games with broad guidelines. Their word is not law, and in some cases is grossly mismanaged and can even be incorrect.

Actually, no. Parental permission will not get an under-aged kid into an R-rated movie. The parent needs to purchase their own ticket and watch the movie as well with them. And if someone wants to buy more than one R-rated movie ticket, they have to be over the age of 21.
And you know what? There's stuff in some Zelda games I wouldn't recommend to a kid that young. My sister was unable to play Majora's Mask until this year, it managed to creep her out so much. And it's nothing to do with blood or gore or violence, which is the only reason that games like GoW and DI are not considered suitable for kids. Cut that stuff out and you've got nothing more than a bland hack-and-slash that anyone can play without worry.

What makes an american idiot child different from any other child in the world? An idiot is an idiot.Ok, well should kids be exposed to gratuitous violence and blood at age 5? I mean it's just blood right? GOW is a pretty violent game.
Wasn't we at age 7 to start with? What is next 3? 😐
At age 7 a most games, (e.x. fighting games) I can understand.
Some kids are kept away from GoW just due to the nudity and language. If you would've left those out you would've had nothing but DMC mixed with MK fatalities.

Once again, you utterly miss the point. The ratings are less about what is appropriate, and more about what is not appropriate. If the ESRB feels a child should not play a game, it is rated above a child-recommended level. And then this is only a recommendation, considering that kids and parents are different, and children mature individually at different rates, and a child is allowed to play an M-rated game if their parent purchases it for them. The ESRB merely labels games with broad guidelines. Their word is not law, and in some cases is grossly mismanaged and can even be incorrect.
I am not here defending the esrb rating system my point was originally gow is for a more mature audience than the zelda games. Adults can enjoy either game series though but younger kids should be able to handle the zeldas just fine.

Maturity is a psychological term used to indicate that a person responds to the circumstances or environment in an appropriate and adaptive manner. This response is generally learned rather than instinctive, and is not determined by one's age. Maturity also encompasses being aware of the correct time and place to behave and knowing when to act appropriately, according to the situation. 🙄

That stuff is the sole reason kids shouldn't play it which has always been the point. If you cut out this stuff then you don't need a mature audience to play them.
