The whole "Anora ran the country thing" is largely a myth.

Cailan promoted good relations with Orlais, and contrary to what you seem to think, Anora cannot overrule a decision of the king.

Is it? That is certainly not how it seems to me. In fact I see no evidence to the contrary.

The impression I got was that Anora could certainly have made him reconsider it, especially given that he doesn't even bother to wait for them anyway.

Considering Anora proves to be a shitty queen, and that Cailan turns out to have not been the idiot manchild he appeared to be, and was working diligently on establishing a relationship with Orlais, he seems to have been doing this "king" thing quite often.

Cailan is not exactly faithful to Anora.

It is generally implied that he was. As I recall it, Cailan had initially crumpled the paper up, but then starting evidentally thinking it over, as the paper had been smoothed over by the time the Warden reads it.

Invading a Blight doesn't really sound like a good idea.

The notes only speak of an alliance, not of a marriage.

Better than after the Blight, when theres nothing left for them to conquer.

No she doesn't. >:[ Cailan pursuing diplomatic relations with Orlais does not prove him to be intelligent, especially when the notes you find in Return to Ostagar indicate that Orlais approached him first.

Only because he's Eamon's ***** and he told him to ditch Anora. That still doesn't adress the fact that he apparantly didn't give enough of a shit about the Orlesian forces to wait for them.

Spoiler:
(This letter appears to have been crumpled then carefully smoothed out and folded again)

Cailan,

The visit to Ferelden will be postponed indefinitely, due to the darkspawn problem. You understand, of course? The darkspawn have odd timing, don't they? Let us deal with them first. Once that is done we can further discuss a permanent alliance between Orlais and Ferelden.

-- "A note written in an uncharacteristally familiar tone from Empress Celene to King Cailan"

Implications brah, especially considering the 2nd letter was Eamon basically telling Cailan to ditch Anora and hook up with Celene.

I don't think they would really consider a small country like Fereldan worth the trouble of giving considerable effort into attacking both a Blight and Fereldan.

Well I just found something that made me lose faith in mankind.

God dammit Quan. What the **** man?

Haven't seen it, so I can't judge, but I enjoyed the cartoon quite a bit. I assume watching the cartoon makes the movie worse?

Its bad enough on its own. But if you've watched the series it make you want to give a giant Spoony-style 'BETRAYAL!!!!!!' scream.

Make no mistake, the movie is awful on it's own merits. But if you've seen the cartoon...God help you. I saw it with friends, which is the only thing that stopped me from torching the theater.

I can't even decide what pissed me off the most. Probably what they did to the Firebenders. If I were in the Avatar Universe, I'd be a Firebender. Cause they're that cool. So to see them in the movie...Just..don't watch it.

Still haven't seen it for the obvious fear of a repeat of watching Dragonball...

And there's apparently no humour in the film? May have to take up Aura's unfinished business and start torching theaters down 🙁

I still haven't seen Dragonball...DBZ was my childhood. If I saw it getting defiled I would probably commit murder on everyone involved.

There is humor in the sense that OMG Sokka's wet again. Hyuck.

Aang is more emo now than ever before. Oh, and they pronounce the names wrong. Or correct technically but wrong in spirit.

Wait, Dragonball wasn't a parody? That's about all it had going for it.

Granted, I went into that theater with abysmal expectations and prepared to laugh and disassociate everything in it regardless.

But back on off-topic, they're making a second one?

lol if they actually managed to make a second Airbender movie, I'd laugh.

It's not like it is so bad it's funny. It's just flat out bad.

I'll just talk about the scene I remember most: Remember when Katara saved those Earth benders from the Fire benders ships? Great episode, really sold me on Katara as a strong female character.

The movie has something similar: The Earth benders are not imprisoned on boats where they can't get Earth. No, they are placed next to a freaking mountain. facepalm

Hey its ok though. There are some small fires in the camp, and their will is like, totally broken.

Take a series, fiddle with the plot and completly change the characters personality. Win plan is made of win.

Theyre gonna destroy Toph :/

Jesus Christ, what if it had rained?

No kidding. Aang is emo as all get out. Cheerful personality is gone. Katara and Sokka are bland cutouts. Zuko is unintentionally funny.

Toph will be a cutout too.

The best thing about the Avatar movie was the ruination of Zhao.

"So did you see my scroll that I found in the lost Library? I found it, you know. In the Library. The Library where I found the scroll. It was a pretty great lost Library, too. A Library I found, that I found this scroll in. Library Library Library. Did I mention the Library I found that I found this scroll in Library?"

It would be AMAZING if they didn't include the Library parts in the sequel.

Seriously, I would lose it.

I didn't care much about Toph anyway.

But I loved the cartoon, so I refused to watch the movie.
