Dude, I'm not trying to judge, but he clearly doesn't know what he is talking about.I didn't say he wasn't a good person. But instead of answering my question, he went on to preach a sermon I have heard 10000 times, and it made no real contribution to what i intended for this debate.
And yes, "Do not judge lest ye be judged" is a value Jesus taught that I admire, and I don't mean to contradict it.
An interesting take on this.
But why have so many Christians talked about physical torment though? JIA is one Evangelical notorious for pushing the idea of physical torture in Hell...unbearable.
And Torture and Torment are the same thing essentially. Spiritual torment is still torture.
The Bible also states that people will BURN in the Lake of Fire.....sounds like physical- like torture to me, but perhaps my intepretations are as ignorant as some fanatic Christian's teachings are.
I believe that the torment is more our own remorse. I think it is a good thing because I believe that we will realize everything we did wrong, why we did wrong and finally learn from our mistakes in Hades.
I do believe that after Hades there is the lake of fire, but as I said, I don't think very many will end up there.

No it doesn't. Sheol, hades, Tartarus..etc. only means death of the body. Look in your concordance at the Hebrew meaning.
"But God will redeem my life from Sheol" Psalm 49:15
Inferring more than bodily death.
"...who are filled with gladness when they reach the grave" Job 3:22
Again inferring more than physical connotations.
"... let's swallow them alive, like Sheol, and whole, like those that go down to the pit ." Proverbs 1:12
Sheol is not even necessarily physical death.
Then take all the references to God saving them from the grave when God does not spare us from physical death. No it is definitely a spiritual salvation.
