Deal with what?By the way, I think EVERYONE should see this scan.
Superman is a BEAST.
Is it that you're too dense to understand speed unless someone hammers you over the head with it?
You must not read prose novels period if you have so much trouble comprehending the action of 2d comics and require animation to understand.

Did I ever tell you that Superman is slow in comics? I remember me saying that Superman will land the first four hits on Thor due to his speed. I remember me saying Superman would land the first 4 hits on Hulk due to his speed. I remember me saying that Surfer cant fight in the fashion Superman fights.
What are you talking about? I never said, Superman was slow, I never said, THAT was his best speed feat. What I did say is that he rarely use his speed in combat, kind of like when he is fighting against Grundy or the General.
Get your post straight before trying to call someone out because its not live shows that make me think Superman is fast, its COMICS that make me realize his speed. Do I think he is as fast as you all put him, NO, do I think he is faster than thousands of characters combat wise, yes.

Well, not to defend Carver, but animation does do a much better job when it comes to depicting speed... especially for those who aren't familiar with the dynamics of speed trails vs. motion/path trails.

Just like this fight. This fight came directly from the comic, straight from it and we see no speed during combat. THAT is why I said that about the scan that I presented. Even though they make numerous of fights directly out of the comic on big screen, I dont see any speed during combat.

I don't think anyone argued the contrary. Its just I've noticed that even though there can be a caption stating a character is going FTL Carver will still believe that DBZ characters are faster simply because they LOOK faster.
So you have some big screen showings of someone FIGHTING at light speed?
Let me see it.

Carver, you're confusing "doesn't do", with "can't do". The reason Flash and Zoom fight at high speeds is because that's all they have; if your only power is moving fast, it's only logical that you would blitz your opponent. The reason Superman doesn't have speed-combat feats to show, is because he doesn't need to do it for two reasons; 1) the vast majority of his opponents do not possess speed and 2) he has other powers in which make him capable of tanking most attacks thrown at him... why use speed to dodge attacks that you can tank head-on?
Originally posted by marwash22Yeah, it'd be like saying that each time a dbz character deflected a ki blast at that moment they couldn't dodge the blast, because they didn't, despite showing speed enough to be able to.

So since Goku have other abilities, why does he blitz all of the time?
Why wouldnt Superman blitz and dodge Doomsday during ALL of their fights?
Why wouldnt Superman blitz Darkseid and fight in the Flash fashion since we have on panel showings of Darkseid strength doing hard damage to him?
Why wouldnt he blitz Despero when Despero litterally one shotted him?
Why wouldnt he blitz Titus when during their first fight, Titus one shotted him? I am pretty sure that if I fought someone for a second time and this person almost took my head off the first time we met, I would blitz the hell out of them.
Please help me understand this.
Do you not understand the concept of a story? If Superman fought the way you wanted him to, all of his fights would be half a panel long. It's called plot, or PIS if you will, and it's something you have to live with in comics, manga and pretty much every other form of story telling. The reason Superman doesn't just blitz Grundy and end it in 2 seconds, is the same reason Goku doesn't use Spirit bomb at the beginning of fights or the same reason DBZ characters let their opponents spend 5 minutes charging attacks when they could easily interfere and attack before charging is complete.
think, dude... it's not difficult.

Okay, answer this, we have Marvel who has Super speed and we also have Adam who also have Super Speed along with the same strength and durability as Supes. Why dont they just wink out and fight super speed mode instead of fighting like bricks?
Think about that dude, its not difficult.

Heck, even Dragon Ball has an entry on the page, and it talks about how frustrated Akira Toriyama was with the production of the series.
Because... wait for it...
COMICS ARE NOT MANGA!
It's the one constant, fundamental difference between Manga and Comics. Comics have always been about collateral damage, hard hits and explosions... all things used to stress the amount of danger the innocent's are in. Manga typically focuses on head-to-head battles that involve one character trying to out perform another.
Manga fights hardly ever involve the general public in the same fashion as Comics, the inverse is true for Comic fights. If comic fights were done in the same manner of Manga fights, it would be counterproductive to the very nature of "Heroes saving the day".
Originally posted by marwash22In fact that's something that parodies of DBZ point out, that frequently the DBZ fights take place in million square mile areas of nothing but rocks. That way they can use fighting around innocents to show who the monsters really are. They even had this in DBZ when Majin Vegeta was around. and the collatoral damage that ensued.

It's a major part of superman's character to be mindful of his surroundings so things like in the Matrix don't happen where he's flying along and towing a massive number of vehicles along behind him.
