Err...errr....time constraints....to much going on....we were drunk at the time.....were tired.Sakurai excuse no. 1
With the way the 35 roster turned out, it makes it seem as though Sakurai and the Smash team were just twiddling around all day playing World of Warcraft or something (or were just lazy).
They were probably like "Bah. This is too much work. Screw Ridley and the other requested characters. Let's just have clones again guys, and while we're at it, let's cut Mewtwo. We'll still make plenty of money off of this game either way."

Heh. That's one possible scenario. I kinda wouldn't be surprised if that's how it went. With the way the 35 roster turned out, it makes it seem as though Sakurai and the Smash team were just twiddling around all day playing World of Warcraft or something (or were just lazy).

This seems to be the most plausible scenario; it is a real shame. 🙁
Nice vids BTW RP 👆

No words can justify the exclusion of some of these characters from the SSBB roster.
I guess nothing more needs to be said there.

I was playing Sup Metroid on my Emulator last night, it really took me back, It looks fantastic still to this day, I really miss those sort of games.
The days of those kind of games/platformers are long gone, it seems. =(
Super Metroid was the first platformer I really got into (well, besides Super Mario Bros. for the NES and the like), and Ridley being the first dragon creature I came across in video gaming makes him (and Super Metroid) well, special to me in a way. 😛

I remember owning a NES and SNES, some great games, full of secrets and cheat codes, 30 extra lives in Contra anyone? I miss those old games that defined today's games, back when I was young you concentrated on game-play not graphics, and owning games like NES super Mario Bros, Battletoads ect. are some of the best games I ever played.

Of course.
That picture is still freakin' sweet though... But I wonder why among the few bosses in the game, that Ridley gets 2 boss forms. Would've been just as disappointed if both Bowser and Giga Bowser had been boss-only in Melee.
Maybe he was intended to be playable earlier on, but changed due to complications? Nah. I doubt it.
Maybe Sakurai thought that 2 unplayable boss forms for Ridley would make us all super happy, in which case, I suppose Sakurai also thought he was doing us all a service by taking out Mewtwo for Lucario...
Kind of a bittersweet presentation.
------
Other than that though, what gets me is the amount of people saying "Get over it. Brawl's still got tons of features!" when in reality, it won't matter after the first month or so of playing the game.
Nonetheless, am still looking forward to more Ridley/Meta-Ridley footage in the Subspace Emissary. 👆

Same here, I must admit I was annoyed to find that there are only 6 bosses or so

So true...yet now it is just a pipe dream. 🙁
Anyhow, I thought about doin' this awhile ago, and now I've finally done it (this was my first time using Windows Movie Maker too. It was a bit time-consuming at first, but still worth doing in the end IMO. 'sides, someone was bound to make something like this eventually).
A short rant about Ridley's exclusion from the roster. Straight and to the point (don't be offended by the mild profanity) :
If I get bored or have more spare time in the future, I might make a vid like this of another character who didn't make the playable cut, but since people already made vids like that about Mewtwo (my only other wanted character for the most part), I doubt I'll be making another one, but it's possible.
