Street Fighter IV

So the Super Street fighter IV edition has finally be unveiled.

This is great. An upgrade along the lines of what 3rd Strike was to 2nd Impact.

I'm tellin you Capcom, I'm only payin' 30$, maybe 35$ for this at the most. They say it wasn't gonna be a full price game but it better not be damn near full price either.

Well 8 new characters is awesome.

I had regrets about getting this...but with 8 new chars it seems worth it. Here is to hoping that they don't screw it up if they make any balance changes.

How do you beat people who crouch waiting for you to come to them, only for them to hit you with some special?? That's annoying! 😠

You either cross them up or hit them with an overhead.

For example Ryu's fMP hits crouching opponents, and if it hits a standing opponent you can follow it with a shoryuken if I'm not mistaken. However you can't link anything after it hits a crouching opponent, but it leaves you safe so you can just block in case you think the opponent will attempt a reversal. There are other options too.

Ryu's jLK is good for crouching opponents as a crossover and of course you can always use his jumping forward heavy punch as you land, but chances are if the opponent has a good anti-air normal, Balrog's cHP comes to mind, you're either gonna get a trade or in Boxer's case get competely stuffed.

If you use someone with fireballs you can chip their life away--if they don't have a char with fireballs--until they realize they aint going to win like that, but be careful with those fireballs because if you get predictable you're in for pain.

Hope this helps. Knowing what characters you use helps even more.

Coming out for consoles, too.

Actually, it sounds like it might not even hit the arcades at all.

Wishlist for SSFIV?

Characters...Ibuki, Guy, Makoto.
updated music, preferably by the same guy that did the third strike soundtrack.
Updated Ultra combos, at least 2 for every character, and definetley more than JUST raging demon for Gouki. Either give us the choice of what one we want to use (sf3) or give us access to both at anytime (alpha).
MOAR PARRY!

I definitely want Guy in the game.

Juri looks retarded imba atm.. I'm glad T.Hawks in it.. and I never cared for Dee Jay.. so heres hopin they start pickin some good peeps from here on in

Adon is gonna be in it. Anyway, I hope this comes out for PC too.

Some of the information was listed as two new characters, Juri, and Hakan (Hakan being a Arab grappler associated with lots and lots of oils), and EIGHT returning cast members from other Street Fighter games. Dudley, Ibuki, and Makoto from the Street Fighter III series. From the Street Fighter Alpha series, we have Cody, Adon, and Guy, and from the Super Turbo series, we have T. Hawk and Dee Jay. We will have to wait and see what Capcom reveals to see if any of these rumors turn out to be true.

apparently.. most of the above is being labeled as a rumor.. only 3 of those have been confirmed..

but Adon would be a great addition 😄 .. just hope his ultra isnt fail.. I expect it to be like " asdlfaksjdf;sldfksd Jagga jagga jagga jagga jagga! *does knee like 12 times* "

Me : ... wtf?

Super Street Fighter IV looks pretty good, my only gripes it seems that they are introducing yet...another Universal Option...and wow, more Ultras. In all honesty, I really hate it when fighting games rely too much on gimmicky shit instead of just the tools of that have been given to the character.

I was never a huge fan of Ultra's to begin with, and still am not to this very day. Although I feel Street Fighter IV is leagues more strategical then SFIII ever was (that's a Fact, period) it is still leagues from being as strategical as ST was, and even further away from the pre-ST days.

Obviously I'm going to always give it a go, however Ono did state very clearly that he didn't want the game to become "super" balance because he wanted their to be some unbalance for some uniqueness. I actually like this approach because by continuously nerfing, you'll make a completely diluted and watered down fighting game which plays like a crapfest.

SFIV even the way it is now is not that bad, even the almighty Sagat is not the super terror at #1. Imo, he just needs some slight removals of not being allowed to ultra, like F+FKxxUltra, and he should be okay. I'm pretty sure they'll probably remove the UppercutxxUltra of Ryu/Sagat or either that, will probably tone down the damage potential coming off of it.

Sigh...typing that makes me hate Ultras, lol, even though I play Ryu, it's made me win quite a bit of matches.

Anyhow, I'll be looking forward to playing SSFIV, DeeJay looks pretty interesting from his debut, Hawk looks fun, but I'm not a huge grappler fan, so I won't be playing him a whole lot, and also the new girl looks pretty interesting. However I'm a purist, Ryu all the way, and ftw!

Akuma NEEDS a new Ultra/Super.

I would personally love it, if they threw away all of this super / ultra crap.. and just kept the EX's.. having new properties to your standard move-set, IMO, is way more interesting than doing some lame timestop, followed by disgusting amounts of invulnerability, paving the way for undeserved damage opportunities

it works in KoF because you can dodge / roll out of the way of the nonsense on reaction(and in 12, you can flash-guard it if you have good timing).. but in SF its either block and take chip, anticipate and gth out of the way, or eat it

and lol @ having 2 ultras to choose from.. lawd... and while I agree with not nerfing people.. they could at least buff the people that are obviously the more gimp of the lineup

He's Top-3, almost as good if not as good as Ryu was in SF:IV even without a sufficient Super/Ultra that lands 24/7. Gouki if he stayed exactly the way he did in SF:IV going into SSFIV would arguably be Top-3 again unless the new characters were so beastly that they knocked him out of that position which I feel would be highly doubtful.

The only thing I would of liked is if they just simply changed the single Ultra that they already have, like Guile's for instance, I felt Sonic Hurricane would have worked better then his Ultra Flash Kick.

However, regardless, whats done is done, Everyone I believe gets a new Ultra now.

Edit: I co-sign with you Satsujin, removing supers and ultras and only having Ex-Options would make for a 100X better Street Fighter game with far more strategy vs strategy, however most general gamers need their "gimmicky wow-factor" thrown in. It's a tough nail to bite, but it's the truth.

I hope Ken gets the necessary adjustments to be up to par with the other shotos.

Dunno what they should change though. Better recovery time on his hadokens would help him manage them, and/or have him be able to land all hits of his heavy shoryu....I dunno maybe lend him some of Ryu's invulnerability? What really sucks about using his Ken is that his Shoryuken can get interrupted by so much stuff and he relies on landing all hits that it becomes a pain when he trades because he ends up taking more damage than he dishes. Meh I just don't like this feeling that I might get raped if I throw out a shoryuken on reversal/counter when it should just hit people clean like Ryu.

Wonder if I'm even making sense.

I dunno but I'm hell of a lot more confident with Ryu's shoryu.

I'm looking forward to learning Yuri *_*

nothing to lol about there friend. It's probably the best thing about SF:III and i miss it more so because it's not in SFIV. Giving Akuma Raging demon as a sole ultra is WEAK, compared to the glorious 3 he had in Third strike. A choice of Ultras is never a bad thing. Ryu only having a Hadu Ultra is weak, he should DEFINETLY have a Shoryu ultra. Ken should have a Tatsu Ultra. Again i stress having the best parts of each series in the latest part.

Choice of ultras, never a bad thing. See Third strike.!

the reason I'm lol'ing, is because one of two ultras is going to be labeled as trash, and the other amazing.. or in some poor characters cases, both will be terrible.. it plagued SF3 because you really couldnt pick a super just because you like it.. if it didnt link from a normal hit, it was just no good

slim chance that they'll make both ultras for each character viable.. but I suppose its a chance none the less

I actually love the Ultras, really dramatic and SF has never had that level of presentation before, every game should have supers that look like that. I just wish the gauge didn't fill so quickly.

Thank you i'll try it next time. I was using C. Viper when the guy did that. The other match i forgot who i was, but i was fighting Blanka, and he did the same thing, except thiat time he kewpt using that one move that envolved having you crouch....
