in many of supermans fights (with zod and earth-2 superman) the shockwaves from their punches destroyed the planets, wouldnt it be safe to say the punches themselves could do much more

Yes a supernova will destroy a planet. But that's like saying that 100 tons of Trinitrotauline will destroy a doll house.
