You still lose. Becuz byren retconned Superman's origin and his powes. By reversing byrne's origin it changed superman's powers back to the original explaination. hence superman learning to breathe in space is a retcon. He never had to. As such, his strength was never connect to his flight. Or do I need to show a scan of Superboy pulling open inertron. NOT flying.

eff you. And I mean that. I'm not even arguing what you and bruce are arguing. I do believe you believe your own hype. you got pwned when I said SB was breathing in pc legion. get over it. I didn't even argue that Superman wins the majority. I only argued that his strength feats were far past Surfer's, Hulk's, and Thor's.
Again...

Who the Hell lied to you and told you that you decide what's valid and invalid when it comes to rectons? If you're claiming that the naure of his powers were altered due to the recton then...No Bias Claims
If you claim that Spiderman is stronger than Superman, then you have to prove it
"Batman can beat Thor because he's cooler!" That's an example of how not to debate. We would like to see the rationale behind any claims that one character can beat the other rather than a claim based on popularity and subjective bias.
Also, we insist that all claims be backed up by evidence from canon sources.
Not conjecture, PROOF.

no, I agreed that the armbar was in some ways PIS, but the fact that a friggin writer and editor even thought it was passable enough to put into an actual comic tells you something about Surferyou brought up the DS event, which is exponentially better than the armbar event and is in no way comparable
-norrin can phase
-telekinetically remove panther or hit him with a loose object
-omni-directional energy release
-convert himself into energy
-convert BP into energy/fried egg
-etc

No. You prove that one part of byrne's explaination still applies when all the others don't apply. the burden is on you. Or I'll just Superboy ripping open inertron and end the discussion.

ummm you don't have to be some kinda expert on Surfer to know that BP should not in a million years be able to put surfer in a armlock

but you dont know enough about superman...so how can you judge?

I DO know enough about Superman. I don't follow him with a microscope, but I make sure to stay as familiar as possible with his abilities and limitations if only for this particular thread. That's why you'll always see me asking for issue numbers when someone brings up a particularly high or low showing for him.
wait, let me guess:
1) create red sun
- implausible since Surfer does not scan for weaknesses in the middle of a fight
2) create kryptonite
- see 1
- also kryptonite only exists in DC. so Surfer can't make it
3) turn superman into 'some object' with matter manipulation
impossible because Superman has a forcefield that protects him from matter manipulation (see darkseids omega beams)

Now how much does it say about Supes that both the writer and editor thought that was passable?
