If Metron grants power to X character, since He is a science based being, the power granted is science based in nature
If the wizard Shazam grants the SAME power to X character, since he is a magical being the power granted is magical in nature.
Triumph's power was restored by a 5d Imp so you do the math.
There is a HUGE indication that the whole ARC has magic involved all over the place btw.
You will have a point if Triumph wasn't powered back by a 5D Imp and if Triumph wasn't one shooting Hourman, which just by itself puts him on a power level above Surfer.

Rao and Abby are claiming that because Triumph's powers were restored by Mxy, Triumph was "magically powered" when he drained Superman. In a totally different story line involving Superman Blue, Mxy created a glowing Doomsday construct to which Superman Blue commented he was "as vulnerable to magic as the next guy." They are concluding that the reason Triumph was able to successfully drain Superman was due to him being Magically powered, even though Superman made no similar reference to magic in the scan. And because Silver Surfer isn't magically powered, he would not be able to drain Superman in similar fashion despite having the same control over the electromagnetic spectrum. Got all that? Yeah, it's embarassing.
