By far the most impressive showing by Ares I've ever seen.

Really? What did Ares do in there?

Spoiler:
he squares off with x-man, who cannot conceive of a way of beating ares. he is "war personified, on every plane. in every future, too." when nate tries to escape outside of the normal perception of time, into the "planck length between moments," ares follows and continues to fight him.

Wow, that's crazy powerful.

Scans please.

here it is:

there is a lot of interference in this scuffle nad nate doesn't really lose in the end

So what they are saying is that every plane of existence including the astral realm and physical realm every single aspect of Ares is the embodiment of war including his physical form.

Ares stalemates Skaar in this short fight, but an impressive feat in the 2nd page, where he basically one shots Wolverine.

Also means Ares Axe can pierce Hulk skin (Skaar sword did it).

Wolverine speed & reflexes were supposedly super-human. Speed feat for Ares? 😛

True, Nate doesn't lose... he BFR's himself.

I liked how this fight shows the difference between a god with a powerset, and a mortal with the same powers. Luke Cage is strong and tough, but he certainly could not have done this... kind of like when Ares' axe managed to penetrate the space-time continuum and continue chasing the Secret Warriors- also an awesome feat.

DA Ares #3

Ares after being beaten, and having his tendons stretched still physically beats his son Kyknos (i.e. shows decent healing),

Shows good durability as he also takes several grenades with no ill effect:

Siege 2, sad fight, but Ares does okay against Bob, until well, he get's Carnaged.

RIP (Probably).
(Final note, notice how Ares evicerates Sentry with his axe, so if this had been Sentry pre MM where he died easily (then came back), Arex would have won this)

RIP Ares...we will be waiting for your Return.

Nah man take it out if the respect thread he got owned. I dunno maybe im readin it wrong, Ares didnt seem to do anything really.

No leave it!

Like I posted in other threads regarding this...

Marvel Universe makes me sick.

They treat their pantheons like they are Kobra or Hand Ninjas or smthing.

Having said that.

Great showing for Ares.
Taking Sentry's punches and actually delivering what would be a killshot to a normal character (adamantium axe to the stomach would down or KO even Thor IMO)

Having said that.

RIP Ares.
A great fictional warrior character killed by the greatest fictional overpowered punk ever (even SBP seems far more likeable now...)

Maybe he'll return in a more "godly" fashion? Not that I want Marvel's Ares to become a copy of DC's, maybe as a god, his spirit lingers or some other mumbo jumbo? It's kinda lame to see Bendis sacrifice a character who's actually interesting and complex without being a complete basket case for the character he's been wanking nonstop but hey, it's comics.

Ares dying from physical damage is kinda stupid.

Aren't Olympians immortal? If so, he should be coming back soon. 🙂

They might even use this as a reason to give him a little bit of an upgrade. /crossfingers
