Well, that isn't sucha a big thing. DD can detect Peter's and Spidey heartbeat. That was made clear in "Death of Jean DeWolff" story. So eventually DD will still know the secret identity....well, actually it was reveal in public in CW....actually...Spidey have his secret identity back according to the Mephisto deal...but that means Jean is alive...and the Sin Eater alive too....AHHHHHH!!!!!

If DD can pick up on Spidey's identity so easily what's the point in retconing it? So he discovers it in a new way? I want progression in Spidey comics, not regression [Apply this argument to every retcon in OMD, all 1935687628899 of them, especially the marriage] 🙁
Ugh, I don't know what the worst part of BND is, the fact that Harry is suddenly back and instead of dieing he was just in europe?!? or that Peter is now living with Aunt May.
For pete's sake, I don't care how old he is supposed to be now since the retcon, he's out of college, why is he living with his aunt?!?

Even the good retcons like the retconning on Sins Past and The Other? Or that stupid Spider-Totem thing JMS teased about in his entire run.
Come to think about it, One More Day litterly retconned all of JMS's work. Ain't that a slap to the face, eh.
Ive been a faithfull Spidey reader for years. Through thick and thin I stuck with the titles but this recent crap might be too much. How could Marvel use such a cheap way to "fix" Spidey is beyond me. Brining Harry is bad! Suddenly erasing his identity from the whole world is bad! Did Mephisto erased all newspaper clippings, videos, SHIELD files, Iron Mans memory. Its just ridiculous. I wouldve accepted Spidey being a Skrull but not this crap!

This is some of the worse shit I've ever read!
Its devolution like no other. Its like after watching Mankind start understanding complex mathematics watching them jump backwards and start flinging poo on each other for no reason.
The biggest thing I love about comic characters is their personal development and growth and they've just slung Peter back into the dark ages. I mean I loved him back then too but he's grown so much since then why just erase all that and spit in our faces?
I know allot of people didn't like it but I actually loved the other. It took some time to accept his new mystic take but once I did I really started to like it. It all seemed predestined to me. Well it did before too but this time it just had more potential once you opened up to it. Not only could he still be dealing with the same stories and bad guys as before but now he had reason to deal with many more stories involving mystics, magic, ancient things and his own potential. This has just ruined so many things I loved about the character its not even funny. And for what? To make him Ultimate Spiderman?
I liked the idea of his life actually having some time flow to it. Its how he grew and continued to go on. I was even looking forward to his children and eventual end one day.
This just takes all the things that's he's gained as a character over the past 20 years and shits it down the toilet!

A few things:
1) Does this mean that Spider-man never wore the Iron-Spidey suit, or Stark never set up the suit to record data about the person who wore the suit, or that Stark can't recall what happened to all the data on the person who wore the suit?
2) Since everyone remembers that Spidey revealed himself during Civil War, but no one can recall who was under the mask, and Spidey doesn't remember his deal with the devil, shouldn't Peter be like "Hmm... I KNOW that I revealed myself to the public, but they can't remember who I am; and I don't know why. This bear investigating.
3) Mephisto said he made the deal for Spidey's sorrow intead of his soul because although people who sacrifice their souls DO spend eternity in torment, they also spend that time knowing that their actions saved another. Essentially "righteous suffering" if I understand correctly (something Mephisto has no interest in apparently). But if some small part of Peter's soul remembers that he used to be married to MJ, wouldn't that mean that that same part of his soul remembers that he sacrificed his marriage to save May, again resulting in "righteous suffering" (though this time it's just not eternal).
And if Mephisto can erase the knowledge of WHY Peter sacrificed his marriage from Peter's soul, and just leave the knowledge that the act itself was done, why can't he do that to the other souls in hell that have sacrificed themselves for someone else? Or even better, make that a standing part of his deals with these people. A clause that states that they won't remember that they sacrificed themselves for someone else, just that the other person will be safe while they are resigned to hell?
