STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- The Hunted

Started by Captain REX34 pages

Fixed, Kyle.

The Rodian and the Weequay are unnerved by your unexpected bolting straight for them, having thought you would have gone for Ahaz. Caught off guard, the Rodian rolls a 6 and the Weequay a 1, firing ineffectually.

Eerin does well to dodge Ahaz, as the bounty hunter reveals that the bulky weapon is in fact a tangle gun. He rolls... a 12. Keeping you in his sights, he pulls the trigger and sends steel bolas twirling towards you. Normally, while a 12 is a hit, the attack would be pointless without any Outcome. But then Ahaz takes things up a notch by pumping a Fortune point into his roll, giving him the full Outcome. In addition to losing five frames, Eerin catches the steel bolas around his legs and is tangled!

Ahaz takes the time to reload the tangle gun, sling it over his shoulder, and pull out his pistol, while the Rodian has another go. A 17 to Kyle means that he takes 3 damage. The Weequay taunts Eerin, firing the blaster past him deliberately.

Eerin is tangled, but Kyle has his action to go!

(Another doubleshot to the rodian, dodge Ahaz)

Oh geez...

The first chance he gets, Eerin is going to struggle with the entangling cords to free himself and attack the Weequay.

The double-shot goes in for 13 damage as the Rodian retreats into another alleyway, out of sight.

With Eerin entangled, the Weequay has no worries ignoring him for the moment. The Weequay moves out to join Ahaz in the center of the street, blasting away at Kyle. 8 damage from his hip-fired blaster.

Ahaz casually raises his blaster and fires a single shot. The bolt tears a chunk out of the wall near you, Kyle, inflicting 10 damage as sparks and debris rain down on you.

The Rodian has moved out of your line of fire, Kyle. Initiative is yours, but the Weequay and Ahaz aren't going to let up. Eerin will be trying to break the cord this turn.

(Doubleshot Weequay, dodge Ahaz)

You're damn skippy I will. Eerin tries to use his halberd to cut through the cord.

Kyle, I must apologize. I forgot that Gunslinger gives +2 damage to your pistol, so the Rodian's damage has been knocked up by 8 addition points of agonizing gunslingerness.

The Weequay too gets to feel your wrath on a 16 and 6... 16 damage to the Weequay as your professional gunshots zip straight by him, the first burning across his thigh.

Try as you might, Eerin, this cord is something awful. You need a roll of 13 or higher combined with your Strength to cut through this alloy wire... and you fall just short, on a 12. The halberd cuts into it, but not through it...

The Rodian slips his carbine around the corner of his alleyway. He fires blind on Kyle, not even coming close with a 2.

The Weequay completes his crossing of the street, covering his retreat by pouring fire at the struggling Eerin. He rolls a 16, inflicting 4 damage to the Bugboy. He slips into another alleyway, into cover.

Ahaz misses.

On top of your entanglement, Eerin, something else appears that causes a considerable amount of worry. It seems that Ahaz has a pet... Gundark. It roars as it drops down from a building, into an alleyway nearby...

Eerin, lying on his side, jerks up his head from concentrating on his task to see the Gundark land in the alleyway uncomfortably close to him. Now given an even better reason to hurry himself along, Eerin finishes cutting through the bothersome cord with his halberd and gets to his feet!

(put a Fortune point on that last roll so that Eerin isn't a sitting duck!)

Eerin, deciding to test his might against this creature, charges it down with a Quick Attack. If it tries attacking in any way, Eerin simply brings the electrified tip of his pole-arm about and Parries its attempt.

(Awesome, thatnks for catching that extra damage! Kyl will turn his attention on Ahaz. Doubleshot and Dodge.)

It turns out, thanks to good Fortune, that Eerin finishes cutting the cord just as Corl the Pet Gundark appears to pull his arms off and not the other way around. Frothing at the mouth with hunger, Corl bounds towards you with claws outstretched. He dodges when you launch your Quick Attack, jabbing at him with the pole-arm. You strike with a 12, a hit by one! No damage dealt.

Realizing that he has been made the target, Ahaz activates his mini-shield, snapping it to life. Normally this would provide an excellent defense, but your marksmanship (thanks to Eagle Eye) negates his defensive bonuses.

Except for one. You roll 11 on the first shot, giving him 7 damage to think about. But 4 on the second shot is a miss... giving him the opportunity to employ another feature of his mini-shield, the ability of Reflection. The first shot bursts against the energy shield, but the second ricochets back in your direction!

Meanwhile, the Rodian and the Weequay focus on Eerin this time around. The Rodian scores a direct hit with a 20, inflicting 5 damage, while the Weequay misses.

Eerin, despite his attack being more or less ignored by the savage Gundark, still has the opportunity to strike! But Kyle needs to think about Ahaz's Reflection...

(Dodge it.)

Eerin performs a Trip, trying to sweep Corl's feet out from under him with a low blow from his halberd.

He then Parries any incoming attacks from Corl.

Ahaz's Reflection goes poorly. Even if he had rolled a 20, it wouldn't have hit without Fortune! But he forced you to dodge, as intended. The bolt ricochets off his shield and hits a building.

Satisfied with those results, Ahaz intends to fire this time.

Eerin, a 14 does it for you. The halberd catches Corl at the ankles and yanks him to the ground. He takes no damage, as he is quite a bit stronger than you.

Ahaz and the Rodian are going to fire on Kyle this turn, while the Weequay attempts to keep Eerin from attacking Corl with his shots.

Realising that he's going to need Eerin's help for this guys, Kyle changes tactics. Dodging out of Ahaz's way, he spins and fires at the gundark.

(Doubleshot Corl, dodge Ahaz.)

Eerin brings the electro-halberd up into an overhead strike, then delivers a solid blow with the blade to Corl's upper torso, putting as much effort into it as possible.

EDIT- Coup de Grace, as messaged to Rex

Kyle just narrowly dodges a snapped shot from Ahaz, who is holding his pistol sideways as he fires. This leaves Ahaz time to act again, but Kyle chooses to assist his companion!

Unfortunately for Eerin, a 2 is rolled, and Corl manages to roll away from the attack. At this point, Kyle's shots fly in and strike Corl dead-on in the chest as he rises... for 3 damage. His Natural Armor is a serious hinderance, even with a level in Eagle Eye. It is likely that Corl barely felt that, if at all, but he gets angry and wants to get even. With Eerin being the closest victim he can reach, he launches a Nerve Attack towards Eerin's midsection...

The Rodian misses completely, but the Weequay gets close as he aims for Eerin's feet. The heat of the bolts bursting in the sand causes 7 damage.

Ahaz is going to take several snapped shots at Kyle, accompanied by the Rodian and the Weequay.

Eerin, you know what's coming.

(Well, not much choice but to dodge all, for now.)

Eerin Parries, interposing the electrified tip of his electro-halberd between himself and the Gundark's claws...

First thing first. Ahaz snaps his first shot on Kyle, rolling a 19. Kyle tries to strafe this one, but even his honed gunfighting senses aren't going to help him out of that one. 10 damage as the bolt skims your gun arm. He snaps the second, but a 12 is a miss as Kyle recoils from the gunfire.

The Rodian takes aim, but Kyle dances around that one easily. Kyle is getting dodge-happy, though...

Eerin attempts to Parry the incoming blow from Corl. The savage beast rolls a 14, a dead-on hit, then pumps his only Fortune point into getting the full Outcome. His claws swipe into your midsection, coming away with the yellow-green ooze that is your blood. 12 damage as his claws pierce your armor shell, Eerin.

Kyle, your outlook on this situation is becoming increasingly negative. You're not used to being put under this kind of pressure! This Ahaz fellow seems to have a great deal more experience in this area than those thugs you fried back at the cantina.

Eerin will be feeling that Nerve Strike for awhile, but at least you are ahead on frames. Corl is vicious, certainly more vicious than any gundark you've seen before... if you've seen them...

(Eerin, we might want to just get out of here. Rex, can we each make an attack aimed at disengaging us from them, and make a break for it?)
