STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- The Hunter

You do make another connection, however.

The make of Snith's repeating pistol.

The DC-17 repeating pistol was a standard-issue firearm to clonetroopers during the Clone Wars, highly popular amongst the Advanced Recon units. It was used in the last days of the Republic and the early stages of the Empire.

They were also distributed to graduates of the Imperial Academy of Carida around that time, which, according to the article, is when Snith Jr. graduated.

Well, if he's someone lying about who he is, he's put a lot of work into it, and something like that I don't find entirely likely.

Hmmm. Yes, Rylis will be asking Snith about this stuff...

Annoying that you cannot find an image of Snith himself, but he does look an awful lot like his father...

The Crimson Dawn drops out of hyperspace upon its arrival at Tatooine, a dustball renowned for its arid weather, its burning sand, its unpleasant natives, and its hives of scum and villainy. Its twin suns burn brightly behind it, while three moons hang in a lazy orbit.

No sign of the Cold Hard Wit.

"Snith, where are you..." Rylis says into the comm as she arrives at Tatooine.

Silence for a moment, then...

"What took you so long?" Snith asks. "I've been waiting!"

"Was doing a bit of research on my way here..." Rylis says. "Where are you docked?"

"Mos Eisley, obviously. You'll have to find your own; the docks only have room for one starship."

"No, really? I have been here before you know." Rylis says. "Just wanted to be sure you didn't end up on the other end of the planet or something."

Rylis will enter the atmosphere and begin preparing to land, then.

Of the two, Nar Shaddaa is probably worse than Tatooine. More people on the Smuggler's Moon means more crime, and it has no form of reliable traffic control to speak of. Tatooine is sparsely populated and its traffic control is unusually helpful, for an Outer Rim world.

Tatooine is worse when it comes to harsh environments, of course, for the obvious reasons. It is an endless desert, interrupted only by moisture farms and minor cities, such as the infamous Mos Eisley.

You are assigned to Docking Bay 49, directly next to Snith's spot in Docking Bay 48.

Rylis is from a desert planet (though a cold one) so harsh environments won't bother her too much and she prefers Tatooine to Nar Shaddaa. But then again, she prefers pretty much anywhere to Nar Shaddaa 😛

Rylis will land her ship in the assigned docking bay, lock it up, and go out to meet Snith.

"So, does your tracker have a lock on where the ship actually is, or will we be wandering through Mos Eisley looking for them?"

"The tracker is going through automated specification program, but that will take up the rest of the day..."

It's the late afternoon, currently. The twin suns of Tatooine, though still scorching, are beginning to dip towards the horizon.

"So asking around might be a good bet."

"Fine with me. Though don't forget you owe me some answers." Rylis says.

She'll want to start by seeing if she can obtain the starport records.

Tatooine traffic control is excellent, but their starport records are atrocious. It's safe to say that most pilots bribe traffic control to leave their ships off the records. Whether Kyle did that or not, he is not listed as having landed in Mos Eisley.

"What if he didn't come to Mos Eisley?" Snith asks.

"What if he didn't? Where else would he be? Out in the desert somewhere?"

"Mos Eisley isn't the only city, you know," Snith comments.

He's right, but you can't think of any logical place he could go. Most are simplistic farmer settlements, such as Arnthout or Anchorhead. Some, like Mos Gamos, are simply too dangerous for a smuggler with a price on his head. And then there's Wayfar, so far south that nobody even bothers with it.

"Yeah, there are other cities, but why would he go anywhere else? There's obviously some reason he landed on Tatooine, and anywhere else on this planet either has nothing or he'd get his throat cut two steps outside of his ship."

"That means he has to be in the city, then."

Snith rubs his chin. It's this gesture that makes you realize that he's donning some sort of forearm bracers. He wasn't wearing them earlier.

"Thanks for basically repeating what I just said...well, there's nothing in the starport records, so we'll have to do this the hard way...until your tracer decides to tell us where he is, of course."

"Like I said, I'll have to check it tomorrow. By then my ship's computer will have narrowed down his location and we'll be set!"

"Well, let's go then. Not too much longer before night and I don't think he would be out at all then."
