Snith manages to keep the task quick. He accidentally diverts power from the weapons system (meaning your turret is useless for the moment) to get things in the cockpit working a-okay, meaning you are simply playing lookout. But no Tusken Raiders appear on your watch, miss.
Eventually he gets the system check running. With that going, Snith comes back to check on you.
"So... we're trapped in the middle of the desert in a strange starship with nothing to do," Snith says.
"A bit. But I had a better idea. Once we're back in Mos Eisley, we're not going to have a lot of time; there is the risk that Kyle might catch word of his own ship being docked in the city and then he might find some... connections that he didn't know he had. Which would be bad. So we don't have an awful lot of time to deal with the entire point my mission. I want to get this out of the way so that when we reach Mos Eisley, all that's left to do is bump off Kyle and his pest."
