STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- The Hunter

No response. Just static.

As Kyle approaches, he twirls his pistol out of its holster and snaps it into his hand, checking the charge in the power pack. He says something to the man and the bug, whom both respond by drawing their weapons of choice; a pair of revolver-like pistols for the man, a sizeable sonic blaster for the bug. All weapons are leveled in your direction.

"GET. OFF. MY. SHIP. WOMAN!" Kyle shouts, just before you say your line and squeeze your trigger, letting off the first shot with a resonating bang... but good guy priority means that Zane (the man) and Eerin will have a chance to react to your attack with their own!

What's the plan, Rylis? Dodge and give up your shot or go through with it?

Oh, damnit, Snith...

Go through with it. I want to get a shot off before all three are attacking me at once.

A sonic blast rolls at you from Eerin's Geonosian weapon. He rolls an 11... just a miss! It detonates against the ground, sending up a cloud of sand.

Zane fires twice, putting a Fortune point into one of his shots, rolls a 5 and a 19... the first shot is increased to a 10 by his luck, so both pistols hit! The blue bolts strike near, sparking off the hull of the freighter, inflicting 13 damage total.

Then you fire, Rylis. Your roll is a 19, sending the calmly fired shot burning across Kyle's thigh, giving him a nasty surprise. He responds with a double shot, the first bolt skimming over a less-covered spot in your armor for five damage on a 10, the second missing.

Would Rylis be able to use the ship for cover?

If so, she's going to move into it a bit, and fire another shot at Kyle. Dodge one attack (not by Eerin, whichever of the other two fire at me first).

Moving into the ship means moving up the ramp and out of the line of fire, but also potentially cornering yourself in the ship. Do you want to risk that?

What about, like, moving more behind the back of the ramp? I'd think there's be room enough to stand down there, and while I'd be out of the line of fire they wouldn't be able to corner me.

Under the ramp certainly works. Consider it two points of cover.

You dodge as Zane's double-gunned attack zips in, leaving you clear from his attack. Eerin also misses, as does Kyle, who snaps his shot. This leaves you clear to duck under the rampway as you return fire with a 17, dealing another 11 points to Kyle! You're not messing around, here...

...but dodging and firing on the move leaves you acting behind the others, but now you have your cover.

So between cover and armor, they're going to have a hard time hitting me...however Rylis is still rather cautious, and will dodge a shot from Kyle, while firing at him herself.

The cover is obviously a frustration, and they have their solutions for getting past it. Eerin sets his sonic blaster aside and pulls out a heavy-looking halberd with a electrified spike at the end, they moves into close combat with you.

Surprisingly, Kyle does as well, followed by Zane. "Hag! Get out from under there and let's get this done!" he shouts. From beside him, Zane rolls a 5 and 6... misses. But Kyle sends off a 19! That is 10 damage, as the smuggler chose to ignore your armor but not your cover.

A 6 rolled means your shot misses, Rylis. Kyle didn't dodge, either. Something must have snapped.

Everyone is now in close combat! -2 penalty to all shots, unless you have some neat toys that only operate up close...

"What, do you think I'm just going to stand in the open and let you shoot at me?" Rylis snaps back, firing her spike gun at Kyle.

Oh, and dodge the bug if he attacks.

The trio encircles you as they bypass the ramp. Underneath the starship with three people on all sides of you firing away, there is no easy way out.

Kyle, his light pistol gatting away, puts out a double-shot. A 20 deals you 10 damage, but the other misses.

You hop nimbly over Eerin's halberd as he tries to Trip you.

Zane keeps pumping away with his heavy revolvers, putting 13 damage on you as he nearly shoots you full in the chestplate with at close quarters.

Thrusting your fist forward, you unleash your spike gun. The metal spikes silently whoosh toward Kyle, one of the spikes cutting his arm for 6 damage. Not quite as successful as you had hoped.

Things aren't looking good, Rylis.

An alarm has been sounded over a heated gun battle in the starport. Troops from the garrison will arrive soon.

No, they really aren't...

Probably too close quarters for heavy weapons, huh? 😛

Rylis is going to open fire on Kyle with her flamer. Dodge an attack from Zane...

As you raise your forearm to spew a trail of flame, Kyle suddenly changes tac. Instead of hurling himself into your midst, he decides that he will take advantage of the fact that you are beneath the ramp and not in front of it. He dashes around to board The Last Laugh, flipping an obscene gesture while letting off a parting double-shot in the process, ignoring your armor as the cover returns. 5 damage.

Eerin rises from his attempt to trip you up and brings the sharp blade up across your chestplate. There is a sharp screech of metal-on-metal and you take another 5 damage.

Once the alarm starts going, so does Zane. He dashes off without so much as a parting shot, heading for one side of the docking bay.

Even so, at 61 damage, you take a -1 penalty.

The alarm keeps blaring.

Eerin is trying to swing downwards and Trip you up again, but he is your only opponent. Kyle and Zane seem preoccupied.

"Back off, bug!" Rylis snaps at Eerin. She'll dodge his attack and open fire with the flamer at him, and then fire with the spikegun. Dodge if he attacks.

You would open fire with the flamer... but Eerin dips his halberd down and catches you by the ankle. Weighed down by your equipment, you crash heavily to the ground as the insect warrior moves to follow-up. No damage taken from the fall, though.

Kyle vanishes into the ship.

Now soldiers have arrived to put an end to the fighting. Stormtroopers, their white armor made dusty by the sands of this world, march towards the hangar with blasters at the ready.

"Lay down your guns!" one of them orders.

Zane conceals himself for ambush and takes cover behind a vaporator, pistols ready.

This next strike from Eerin Chim could decide your part in this hunt, Rylis. That halberd does not look friendly in the least. Somehow you doubt they're going to obey the stormtroopers...

Well, crap.

Can I actually do anything while prone? I can't remember.

Rylis will dodge Eerin's attack, and then activate her jetpack to make a speedy exit from under the ship.

Rylis cannot dodge as she is prone and preoccupied with getting to her feet. But as you rise, Eerin swipes the other end of his halberd into your ribcage... he rolls a 1... raised to 4 by Strike of the Master... raised to 9 by a Fortune point... raised to 11 by the bonus for close combat attacks on a prone target. A hit! The weapon makes an incredibly painful electrical discharge, briefly illuminating Rylis' ribs and sending sparks showering from the jolt's contact with armor. A Coup de Grace gives Eerin a base damage of 15, so an Outcome of 1 raises it to 16, and it is reduced by 9 for your Strength and armor. 7 damage! Rylis is at a -2 penalty for her injuries.

But you're not staying around to see how long it takes them to bring you down. Your jetpack fires up and generates a brief backwash, stirring up sand beneath the ship and obscuring Eerin's vision so that you make it out into clear air unhindered.

Kyle comes bounding down the ramp of his freighter with pistol raised at the stormtroopers. Foolish, Rylis. Killing an Imperial stormtrooper is a serious offense against the Empire. But a snapped attack blows away a stormtrooper with great ease, the bolt burning through the white armored chestplate and taking it down.

Zane bursts from his spot behind the vaporator and brings down two stormtroopers himself.

It seems the stormtroopers were not expecting to be fired upon and lose their action.

Rylis, you are now hovering in the air above The Last Laugh. You may choose to hinder their successes against the stormtroopers from above or you may flee. Just keep in mind that, though Eerin is a terrible shot, Kyle decidedly is not...

Is Rylis high enough up to see the other docking bays? Because she wants to find out where the hell Snith is, and didn't we land the Last Laugh near where we had left our own ships?

She'll also want to try and call him on her comm...

Not high enough. You can see over the other docking bays, but not into them. And the comlink just gets static.
