"I cannot let you just continue existing, of course!" Janus says. "Look to history, Melkor. Look to your own bloodline. The first Castellan Esgabath took the throne because the previous line had no heirs and had been eviscerated by the Sith! Killing you and your idiot brother leaves just your decrepit father, without the support of his sons. That is how it has been done since the Erengardians first began to walk upright..."
Arvus seems to consider this, but then Janus unsheathes the knife he has concealed on his person, holding it in the hand opposite his blaster.
"The difference is that you are against two talented fighters, not just one!" Janus snarls, sweeping the knife out to his side. "Everyone knows you have no knack for war as your brother does, Melkor."
"I will take the assassin," Einar whispers to you. "He enjoys sniping at targets from a distance, something he cannot do with my sword between his ribs. Janus is all yours. Just know that this is all your fault!"
Contrary to Melkor increasing the distance between himself and Janus, Einar tosses his blasters aside casually and draws his rapier with a flourish, striding toward Arvus with the aire of a man that cannot be killed.
Janus steps forward to engage you...

Janus and Melkor will make Speed rolls to see who fires first each turn. All the while, Janus is closing with that knife...
Melkor does not have the Combat skill, having a knife would be completely useless to you.
Melkor rolls a 1, Janus a 5... he goes first. He shoots to your side, trying to back you into the central fountain of the courtyard and cut off your routes to the sides. You do not dodge, so his 12 hits you for 8 damage. A 5 back is not much to Janus; he dodges, but that gives you a +2 to your initiative rolls.
Einar closes with Arvus, who shoots at Einar with the bowcaster. A miss as Einar dodges.

Remember that you can declare a dodge to raise your defensive rating, or you can opt for a double-shot to shoot twice at a penalty.
Janus gets initiative again, despite your bonus (which lasts until you take enough dodges to match Janus). He shoots... 3. The blast goes wide, possibly as he is already getting out of the way of your double shot. Two 15s is 12 damage to Janus!
If you keep backing straight, you will run into the fountain in two turns. If you go a different direction, he may close a turn's worth. He is two turns distant.
Einar, on the other hand, is now atop Arvus, though he takes a hit for 11 damage from the bowcaster.
