He was stressing to increase the pressure on marvel's hand, not feeling pain. Surely you have done it to someone in a handshake. So are we starting to use "could've", "would've" against what was shown on-panel? Cool.

Well eclipso was not trying to fight cap after he realised superman's solar charged body is a hindrance to him and cap's body is a perfect host for him. Earlier he at least flash koed cap in one punch and started giving a speech instead of pressing his advantage

He was fighting very savagely as cap noted, but after a point cap wasn't holding back either

Eclipso had cap on his mercy at the end, saying killing him isn't worth losing superman's body and cap should consider himself lucky.

That doesn't mean he was KO'd, though. Closing one's eyes from getting hit is a general reaction, both in reality and when it comes to comics. Doesn't mean it was a knock out of any kind, especially considering how Cap gets to his feet without much effort later.

For the most part, Cap held his own with Eclipso.

That being the case, we have a pretty good example of how much damage a non holding back Superman can do to Cap, don't we? Since Eclipso wasn't holding back?

I realize Eclipso probably won't have his knowledge or skill, but speaking strictly about strength and damage output....?

I don't think it was a "cheapshot" as people like to throw out as to rationalize cap's loss in their way. A cheapshot is something like this

First he announced "guess what marvel" and I would be surprised that someone with reflexes like marvel wouldn't notice someone slip from his headlock and punches him in the face.

It's on your view. In ending battle it was revealed that since superman killed those pocket dimension kryptonians he had mental blocks stopping him from using his full power. Anyway, it's safe to say that eclipso is a safe way to gauge a unleashed superman vs captain marvel. OTOH we have POS 46.

Cap was holding back tremendously in his fight against Eclipso Supes..

But not definitively by Superman, even though that's clearly Supes standing over him. Lot of speedsters in that room, so it could have been a team thing..

A really bad showing for Cap any way you slice it, given Power Girl cleaned house the next issue.

the issues I am referring to was far more recent and came out a few years ago when superman and Captain Marvel shared powers and Superman was surprised at his power lvl. at the end of the issue Cap and Supes had a handshake grip contest while Mary and Freddie were present.

I guess I will have to dig them up myself.
