Gears of War 2!!!

Started by General G31 pages

I agree that Halo 3 did fall short, I remember playing countless hours on Halo 2...mainly even just the campaign if you can believe it AC 😛 I don't know what it is, but Halo 3's campaign is just missing something, and the story did lack in the final installment.

And I don't play the multiplayer too often...I am more of a single player kind of guy personally.

It just doesn't make sense to me. Bungie has made Halo 1 and 2 so damn awesome but for some reason they lacked in Halo 3. Seriously, did a different staff in Bungie make it or what? It's like a bunch of newbies were hired and had to go through the first two Halo games to make the third one and they probably wanted to double check to see if the game was good but didn't want to and decided to ship it into stores immediately. If that's what happened, the fans are probably to blame for putting an awful lot of pressure on them.

Funny because Halo 3 was better in just about every way than the prior games.

They finally fixed the flawed and lazy level design of the first two games which was the big problem with the series.

No, not at all. I was referring to online multiplayer, not co-op. Even then, the co-op wasn't a selling point.

I side with Halo for two reasons.
1. Its more Epic
2. It has characters I can actually care about because I find them to be more believable(which is funny since ones a cyborg). I'm sure I would care about Marcus and company if I were jacked up on steroids but I'm not. Someone said it best, "Master Chief is a hero" and unfortunately Marcus isn't because hes just too over the top. Hell Cortona is an android but shes more human than Anya, and look at Johnson and tell me he isn't more believable a commander than Hoffman.

And AC, I think its real funny that you think Halo's weapons are childish when Gears has the Lancer. Wow, a weapon with a chainsaw bayonet, that's not fvcking retarded at all.

The characters being appealing to you is your opinion. There's nothing less heroic about Marcus, in my opinion.

The Lancer is by no means childish. Real life rifles have have bayonets before, this just takes it further. Halo's guns, to quote Yahtzee, look and sound like they were manufactured by Mattel.

I'll say that the MA5C (Assault Rifle) and the submachine gun do sound pretty wimpy, but then again they're supposed to be a fully-gas powered gun, not ones based off of gunpowder.

I'm pretty sure the Lancer and Hammershot work and sound similar too.

I dunno, Halo 3's campaign just didn't quite do it for me like Halo 2's 😬

Honestly, I noticed no difference in terms of experience between Halo 2 and 3's campaign, and preferred both to Halo 1.

That's what I mean, when thinking back on it, I notice no real differences either, aside from the noticeable things like new vehicles/weapons/equipment/etc. and so it kinda bothers me, I would play Halo 2's campaign religiously, and now I feel almost forced to play Halo 3's.

The levels in Halo 3 are much better put together. Not nearly as repetitive as in Halo 2.

The Lancer and Hammerburst sound downright lethal. They sound intimidating. Nothing like the dinky sounds of Halo 3's assault rifle type weapons.

I prefered how they sounded in the first Gears.

^^ same, I noticed the change immediately when I saw the first video for it, and I preferred the original ones. But I can live with this, its not a huge deal. I am starting to get used to it.

Agreed, they just sounded more...I dunno loud? The new one to me sounds softer and it's got the little streaming bullets I feel like I'm toting a toy gun shooting plastic darts.

I don't agree with that, I would say the newer ones sound much louder and pronounced then the original ones. The first lancer to me sounded much softer then the new one.

I was referring to the online multiplayer as well.

Atleast I passed it off as an opinion your the one making an offical decleration that "Halos story mode is shit"

bayonets yes, chainsaws no.

The Lancer sounds insane.

It actually feels and sounds like you're heavily pounding someone with bullets. As opposed to Halo's guns, which sound and look like a paintball fight.

Halo's story mode being shit is my opinion, obviously.

Gears isn't sold on its multiplayer, Halo is. Halo's praise has become more and more about online play against others than the game itself. That's essentially what it is now.

So? Chainsaw bayonet is a gaming and futuristic violent extreme of something that already exists. If you want to talk about what guns are more childish and unrealistic, it's Halo. The Lancer is an automatic rifle with a cutting tool on it, those have, to a lesser degree, existed.

State it as such then, just don't declare it as unwritten law.

Gears is all about its multiplayer, don't you recall the shotgun issues people were having with it being over powered?!

Chainsaw bayonet is still as ridiculous/ unrealistic as a plasma weapon, there both far out there, and don't get me started on that "satellite gun"AKA Hammer of Dawn....

Oh this is ironic:

How is that link "ironic"?

It's IGN saying they prefer Halo 3, so what? Lots of people prefer Halo 3. You feel that somehow makes it factual or something?

Halo 3 will more often than not be voted as better, simply because in this day and age, people like to be flattered and have multiplayer that they like.

Look at the catagories:

Graphics, sound, gameplay, added features, multiplayer, story.

Gears beat Halo on graphics and story. Halo beat Gears on multiplayer, features, sound and gameplay.

Multiplayer and features are a given and ultimately futile to someone who values games that are, rightly so, geared toward the single player and/or story mode experience, which Gears was rated as superior in. Sound is give or take, it doesn't necessarily make a game better or worse, and as for gameplay, Halo is easier to pick up and play. It's gaming for the masses, so obviously they'll rate it as better.

I didn't, you assumed.

How does that proof that the game, Gears of War, is heavily marketed for its online Vs multiplayer? It doesn't, stop being stupid.

It's factually not as unrealistic.

The Hammer of Dawn is, but it's still not silly or childish, like every single one of Halo's guns.

You know what? Halo 3's campaign is s***y but its multiplayer is good and Gears 2's multiplayer is s***y but its campaign is good.

I noticed something in Gears 2. Doesn't Marcus look younger for some reason?

Its ironic that their comparing the two, not that Halo 3 is more preferred.

Im curious, now what weapons do you find more childish?
