ok, ill put it this way... when drafting for the tourney, i went not by caps, but by asking myself whether the character could take a majority against diana... and yes, i think diana could take current firestorm...

But just so you know, I already pretty much plan on limiting myself to the feats of Phyla because I doubt I could convince anyone that she or Rune would be anywhere near as effective as Wendel with them. Anything I show that features him will involve such a basic feature of the Q-Bands themselves that it can't be questioned. I really hate leaving things up in the air for the judges to decide, so you really don't have to worry about me trying to use more of Wendel feats than Phyla's.
the bands can do almost the exact same thing as a ring -- except they may be BETTER energy soaks. phylla is analagous to a rookie gl. in the hands of a gl rookie, the ring (using only a rookie's scan as support), would be extremely limited as well, exactly like phylla. but again, the whole inexperience issue was considered irrelevent when i asked about it. if a rookie with a ring can't get in, i can't see how a rookie with the bands should be allowed. 😬

while that's true, a rookie with a ring could do none of those things either. which is why i was comparing the abilities as rookies. 😬
and regardless of who is wearing them, they ARE essentially an infinite energy soak. even as a rookie quasar was easily stalemating guys like firelord and even handling people like modred the mystic and phoenix rachel SIMULTANEOUSLY!
