If Frank can beat the Thing with 1 years prep that implies that hes got better over time. At some point when he started training he was at a certain level then he got better.

If I need to prove that Frank can get better after 100 years they need to prove that he can beat Thing in 1 year.

no the point is that you don't need to be Hal Jordan to beat Thing with a GL ring, a one trick pony gimmick could smash Thing with that ring.

As it's already been shown to you there's plateaus for the ring's power.. So being able to beat thing after a year with it means nothing.
