Thor vs Superman

... Second, some people have wondered early on why writers didn't have Thor fight Gladiator to respond to JLA/Avengers. The thing is they've done that before already...

Here's somewhere later in the fight, I didn't realize the fight spanned the entire book:

Here, he sets up ole Glad for the conclusion:

That's not Thor. That's Thunderstrike. No way in hell would Thor say: "Go For It Man!"

And here I think is what would happen to Superman if the real Thor had just one opening like Masterson Thor had...

BTW, I do realize this is not the real Thor, but Masterson had the real Thor's powers for quite a while. Considering that and add in Thor's personal god abiloities and his thousands of years of experience, you could see how Thor could be a match for Superman and then some.

Superman does not equal Gladiator. That was crap fight in my opinion. Gladiator is 100 times faster than light and can crush planets with his bare hands.

Major PIS.

And I personally think that Thor would win 6-7/10

I just scanned the turning points of the battle... if you want me to scan the 7-10 pages where Thor is getting his ass handed to him, I can show you that this fight wasn't pure fancy or PIS... whatever that means

Plot Induced Stupidity.

When a character is not fighting at his potential or usual levels. Which Gladiator does quite frequently.

I can scan the rest of the pages where he hammers Wonderman in a few moves and where Glads is seriously defeating Thor if you want me to make you feel better... 🙁

Also, I think Thor and Hulk is a poor scenario to use in this instance. Thor and Hulk trade battles a lot. Lot of people cite some better known Hulk victories, but think about just in the King Thor storyline where Dr Strange strips Thor momentarily of the Odinforce. Hulk and Thing go to town on him and Thor eventually beats them both without Mjolnir.
By the way, somebody had asked me when did Dr. Strange strip Thor of the Odinforce... It was issue #575, but I'll do you one better and post some scans showing the resiliency and might of the true Thor!

This mind you, is the result of what Thor might do without the Odinforce, without Mjolnir and without any help... yeesh... He did lose an arm and an eye though...

Thor'd win, but it'd be SO close.

I'd even say stalemate if Thor didn't have those time control/matter control abilities.

#575?

I don't have that. 🙁 I usually would have that.

-edit-
Awesome scans.

Supes wins, unless its T-Money, who is more powerful than pre-crisis Supes.

I don't really follow exactly how either has a major advantage over the other, KAM.

Superman's speed is nulled by Thor's near unequaled skill.
Thor's hammer's effectiveness is nulled by Superman's speed.
Superman's effectiveness using the large variety of powers is nulled by Thor's hammer.

It goes on and on until the pure magical nature of Thor's power, then it's just a slight edge towards Thor.

But, imho, it's a stalemate or Thor edges it out slightly. Not even close to a curbstomp.

long pig.......... I'm with ya !!!

Thats where brute strength saves supes.

Brute strength saves him from being stopped in time or having his molecules magically transmuted? I'm thinking, no.

And their strength isn't that far off to really make a difference.
