Thors certainly more powerful , but id say Superman was stronger.
Most writers say that Thor and Superman are in the same class of strength. Aside from some of Superman's more extravagant (sundipped) feats, like moving War World, I don't have any reason disagree with them.
Thor is fast, with reflexes to boot. I don't see speed being a big factor in this fight. The only way I see Supes winning is if he gets his hands on Mjolnir.

That doesn't matter - it's been established Superman can't lift Thor's hammer. Even if he knocked it from Thor's hand somehow, Thor can just will it back to him.
The ultimate trump card for Thor: mjolnir's energy absorbtion. Just like Silver Surfer can suck gamma radiation from Hulk, turning him into Banner, Thor can suck the sunlight from Superman's cells - then he's killed EASILY.
Don't mess with the Thunder.

When was it established that he can't lift it?I've never seen him use the hammer to drain energy, only to absorb energy directed at him and rechannel it. I don't think he can drain Superman's solar energy.
A) Thor could throw the hammer at the speed of light. See Thor#140, Thor#274; and, or can swing the hammer at TWICE the speed of light- Journey Into Mystery#102. B) In Thor -#393- it’s established that the speed of Thor’s hammer TRANSCENDS both TIME & SPACE.
2) TRANSMUTATION OF ELEMENTS: Thor transmuted the Absorbing Man's wood and iron body to helium (a gas). See Journey Into Mystery #115. Emphatically, in this issue, Thor explicitly said that, "I have the power to transmute the Elements themselves".
Haha, Superman would lose so hard.

Dan Jurgens is a man with an opinion. His opinion in no more valid than yours or mine.
Dan jurgens is a good writer and above average artisit. But he is superman fanboy and he started with Dc hello, of course he go along with superman.
Thor is a Thunder God son of Odin skyfahter/Gaea Elder god of earth. Where superman is a f**king alien and the first superhero. Thor is more powerful than superman and little bit stronger. If Thor and Superman would have thrown down and go all out they will be picking Superman up with a popper scopper, none of Superman powers will hurt Thor as where Thor's powers will bring Superman on the brink of Death a godforce blast will kill superman with one shot or a thrown hammer charge with the godforce energy will do the samething.
DC won't let superman lose no matter what, they will let Batman lose but not Superman and that to me is bullsh**. At least powerful marvel characters can lose on any given story unlike superman.
If you really look at it there a lot of people in DC that will own Superman a$$, Wonder Woman, Martain Manhunter, Captain Marvel, Black Adam, Captain Atom, Darkseid, Orion, Doomsday etc.
You put Superman in the MArvel Universe he will get own or be somebody's b***h. Marvel has to many mystical power beings that will crush superman or turn him into a lap dog.
<<Wow. That sucks for Superman... Did he actually pull the energy out of him?>>
still on this one, huh cc? heheh.
yes, he did drain him and would have killed him -- the difference is he didn't do it until the presence attacked him with energy. once he did, thor just KEPT absorbing and pulled the energy from him and presence could make him stop. thor couldn't walk up to supes and just 'suck the energy' from him. it WAS still cool though. thor laid the HEAVY smack down on that guy, and he WAS powerful . . .
and i LOVE the alien v god argument, one of my favourite tactics by thor-ophiles.
and with all due respect to draco -- jurgens opinion (which i belive WAS in thor's favor) DOES carry more weight than the average fan's. because unlike us, he can actually ACT on his opinions and his opinion is formed in concert with working with other professionals who have worked on and acted upon their own and other (equally weighty) opinions. least that MY opinion . . .

Hey, talk to K3VIL. He brought it up.
The tactic might work if Superman tried heat vision.
