That wouldn't really translate into hand to hand combat speed if he's just standing there with his arm out. He's not really reacting if he's not moving.

I never said anything about h2h combat speed I said combat speed and firing an energy blast is as valid an action as throwing a punch. And if he used eye blast's he'd never even have to raise his arms.

Again, just standing there doesn't really translate to things like dodging the opponent and aiming to hit the person who's moving. I used "hand to hand" as more of an example of.. you know... moving.

You know exactly what is required of the Surfer to fire an energy blast?

Processing information isn't really comparable to utilizing (comparatively) esoteric powers, either.

Well it seems common sense that it would be something like a mental push or a thought, why do you have a better idea? I'm almost positive I remember Surfer saying that he can do complex things like transmutation "with a thought" against a couple foes(but I guess I could be mistaken), so something simple like firing an energy blast seems like it would be just as easy.

But Surfer WAS moving in that scan...

That's building speed not combat speed. who cares how fast he had to react to the environment to grab exactly what was needed and put it exactly where it needed to go. Cause you know throw in a fist to punch some one is much different than putting a brick in place.

or something stupid like that.

I was about to say wtf until I realized you were being sarcastic. sadly, many thor fans really believe that.

Nope.

Travel speed doesn't equal combat speed.

Combat speed equals combat speed.

And Superman has combat speed in spades over any version of Thor to ever grace Marvel's books.

Co-signed. Every part.

.....

Is Creshock arguing with Darthgoober that such a scan wouldn't translate into hand to hand combat speed? Wasn't he the one that just proclaimed that travel speed equals combat speed and that not subscribing to that idea meant I was violating the no-PIS rule? Boy that was a quick turnaround... 😕

I'll tell you guys one thing about the ignore function... you end up seeing other people quoting from their posts. 😬

Hey Soljer... question for you... what's TFLOPS?

I'd probably agree, but, then again...I'm a Surfer fanboy. 😛.

TeraFLOPS or 10^12 Floating Point Operations Per Second.

Funny, that has nothing to do with what we were just talking about remember?

All he has to do is hold out his hands and he can fire off blast after blast without ever having to move his arms

"without ever having to move his arms"

Quit trolling.

let's say I punch at a speed of 90mph

now even if I get on a rocket that travels at lightspeed, my punch is still only 90 mph

surfer has to demonstrate he can move his limbs and react as fast as he can move

So you guys want proof that Surfer can move his limbs fast? We for that you look to something like this scan...

Like I said, I wasn't talking about using the scan to prove blitzing capability(for that we have the above scan), I was talking about using it to prove the upper limits of his blitzing capability by showing how quickly his mind processes information.

Is that she hulk on his board......she looks...kinda retarded.

It's Impossible Man

personally, I think Silver Surfer is able to speedblitz...isn't that why the consensus in Surfer vs Superman thread is that Surfer wins?

And the processing the information by itself doesn't translate to combat speed. That's what I was getting at. You asked if a feat of him using his cosmic awareness would translate to combat speed. When you were told know, you asked. Soljer gave you an answer and you came up with a scenerio that described him not moving to try and let the processing feat count for combat speed. It still doesn't. This scan is irrelivant to that previous chain.

The consensus is the Surfer wins largely because the Surfer is a top tier energy manipulator that likely at least as durable as Superman himself, and is fast enough to avoid the 'speedblitz.'

The Surfer would do quite poorly in a hand to hand fight with Superman. However, he never need resort to it. He can blast away with red sun radiation, kryptonite, planet busting hand beams, drop singularities left and right, and never let Superman get close enough to kick into 'blitz' mode.

I don't think many people argue that Surfer's speedblitz ability is what wins it for him against Superman. Usually people point to his durability and power output. They also point to the exploitation of Superman's kryptonite and red sun radiation weaknesses, something he has exploited very often in the past with his other foes like Hulk, Gladiator, Wonderman and Vision.

unless his blasts are omnidirectional...wouldn't a FTL level speedblitz still be able to bypass Surfer's blasts?

that was why I assumed the consensus was that Surfer could react to a speedblitz and even perform it himself if necessary.

Also, offtopic, is it assumed Surfer will do the kryptonite and red sun radiation because his cosmic awareness will notify him of Superman's weakness?

So current Thor couldn't replicate any of those things? With Mjolinr I thought Thor could travel as fast as The Surfer.
