I am just curious. No one has given me any reason why superman wins any match against thor who is AS strong as superman, cancels his speed as kal is as stupid as they come so he would just slug it out. Add in greater damage soak for thor, a deadly magical weakness for superman and a MAGICAL hammer and superman wins 0/10.

First of all, why do you think Thor is as strong as Superman? By best quantifiable feats Superman is a hell of a lot stronger than Thor.
Second, common sense says that if a being can move 5ft before another can move 1ft then the slower being can't defend.
Also, blocking dumb energy attacks (attacks that can't change direction mid flight) from over 10m away is not the same as blocking a smart attack from less than 1m away. I (a baseball player) can bat a 95mph fast ball from 20m away but can't do such a thing from close range.
Finally, you forget about freeze breath used to slow the opponent down, knocking the hammer away, and the infamous combo to ko principle.
I'd give the very slight majority to superman due to sheer battle speed advantage but CIS and PIS aside, Thor hitting superman once with mjolnir should just about be game over unlike how it was depicted in JLA/Avenger (then again Thor did give a reasonable explanation in the end but supes catching the hammer is still ludicrous).

Well if that is the case then I have no comment until I find out what the new Superman can do. I don't know how fast he is yet. I thought this thread was created before the reboot and thus refers to the pre-boot Superman. IMO, it's stupid to have a thread about reboot Superman against another herald level being from Marvel since Superman would be at a disadvantage everytime. Firstly, no one is seriously suggesting throwing out all of Superman's feats. Secondly, no one sane or worth any sort of credibility honestly thinks Surfer one shots Kal in a single nano-second due to "cosmic awareness". So that entire tangent was pretty much nonsensical.
It's arguments like "EVERYONE HATES SUPERMAN AND THINK HE SUCKS" that doesn't benefit the boards. Of course, people who cite that there's some kind of "mass KMC movement" against Superman tend to not speak out against the equally absurd comments in favor for Superman.
Absurd comments? Like he CAN defeat surfer or he is stronger and faster than thor? I can give you link of PURE BRAWL between SUNDIPPED superman vs silver surfer and surfer was winning there. I can give you at least five quotes by "respected" posters right now that says surfer would ignore superman's punches, absorb his energy instantly, use "cosmic awareness" and find out knite and red sun weakness instantly and take out him instantly. When against superman surfer is too fast, too durable, equaly strong by amping, exotic and everything but when facing thor his speed is nothing, he can be hurt and his strength is lower than thor whether he amps or not. I am not arguing that superman can take majority against ANY high herald or he is even a high herald, but to argue that superman has absurd comments by his fans is laughable against comments of wolverine fan(boy)s, hulk, spiderman and surfer fans. Go to CBR and find out what absurd really is.

Virtually every character with a significant fanbase has insane posters who either truthfully believe the crap they spew or just like to troll. Superman isn't some kind of forum victim whom everyone picks on exclusively and you can't honestly believe you think he doesn't have those who claim he's going to start counter vibrating and using T-Vo and unload planetary level if not galactic level punches on people within the span of milliseconds.
Hulk has fanboys. Surfer has fanboys. Thor has fanboys. And so does Superman.
Pretending he's somehow beyond that, even here on KMC, isn't true.
I can't tell you how annoying this "Oh, _ % of posters here hate ________ " line of thinking is. And yes, I know you're not the first nor the last person to do that, but Christ, it gets old really quickly. C'mon guys, getting worked over like this isn't worth the time and effort. Lets just agree to disagree. Oh BTW, Superman pwns all comic characters. there was nothing he couldn't do (golden superman prime(presence level) and superman with the SOS were how he was intended, unbeatable, can overcome anything.) but in order to pacify the "oh he is boring because he is too powerful" crowd, they introduced pis and then weaked him.
I know some will say, Golden Superman Prime - Presence level? Hell to the No!
