Thor vs Superman

<<Surtur was present when the core star of a Galaxy went supernova.>>

the actual book says SURTUR destroyed the galaxy and what was left was an 'ingot of star stuff'. still don't see how you jump from undefined 'molten star stuff' to white dwarf matter - nothing is mentioned of anything going supernova, nor do i understand why you believe the matter in the center of a galaxy is more dense than any other matter (it's true there are more stars at the center of a spiral galaxy, but . . .) - but you're right, it doesn't really, er, 'matter'. and don't forget - i agree that thor WOULD win his share of their fights. i well recognize his strength. i just happen to think supes is a little stronger. that doesn't mean i don't respect thor as much as i respect supes. i just think supes would also win HIS share of their meetings . . .

i disagree with supes being powered up by kismet against dd though. i actually think supes is just going through (has gone through?) the same power-up phase so many characters are lately. the development of his mental powers, his seemingly increasing speed and strength give evidence to the fact. i also read an interview with a superman editor at some point recently (wish i'd have thought to copy it) that said post-crisis supes's weakness to magic is much less than PRE-CRISIS supes's was. increasing power indeed . . .

I was reading Superman #175 ‘Doomsday Rex’ (the book Avalon’s scan is from.) That’s just two issues following the conclusion of the Imperiex War. Kismet had given Superman the majority of her power to defeat Imperiex. It is very possible that her energy could have amplified Superman’s power, allowing him to perform such a feat. If anyone can make any clarifications feel free.

I dont think that Kismets power was still with him at that time. Superman has done similar things at other times also.

Man of Steel #110: Standing in one spot, Superman used his super speed to vibrate his body invisible.

I will get a scan as soon as I can dig it out of my collection.

Return of Superman: Superman used his speed to vibrate his arm so fast, it shattered the Cyborg?s body into hundreds of fragments.

Snoopdogg - nice. 😄

He might be weakened nowadays - but have you noticed how he seems to be relearning some of his old skills? It's awesome...

wait wait, witch versions of superman and thor are we talking about. superman being able to vibrate into invisibility, is that the current superman? coz it is then we should discuss current thor. thor with the asgard runes and everyhting.

Current Thor is dead.

Current Superman did those things I mentioned.

Current Thor before he died. Before/during the Disassembled bullsh!t. Twas Thor, ruler of Asgard. He would rip Supes a new one.

I have the issue where he vibrates the cyborgs body until it explodes..but don't really want to crack that open too much. Where is a hand scanner when you need one? 😄

Doesn't matter... Current Thor, before he died, was Ruler Of Asgard. He had complete access to the Odinforce and the Runes... Thor wins😄

Thats not the Thor we meant Sentry, If you want to change the Goalpost before precrisis superman "died", I know he didn't actually die, he would splatter king Thor😄 Supes wins 😄

Your right Avalon some people just dont understand 😉 Just replace DD with Thor and DDs firebreathe for the Godforce blast and there you have it. Goodnight Thor.

Or maybe they dont want to.

Great to see you back Juggy. That is exactly what I'm showing with this scan. Some will get it, some won't.

I think Thor has chances to win this fight, I just think Supes will come out victorious most of the time.

🙄

Yeah, right. If you covered pre-crisis Superman with magical feathers, he wouldn't be able to stand up. It was like an allergy to him. King Thor would wreck any Superman.

Thor definitely has a better shot at winning than Superman does. Thor could stop time, and beat the crap out of a Superman statue, if need be.

The galaxy itself wasn't destroyed by Surtur. The comic doesn't say anything about that, and Surtur doesn't wield that kind of power. He's only Skyfather level. Surtur was present when a central star in the galaxy went Supernova. The star Surtur sculpted Twilight from would have to be a White Dwarf. Normal stars don't become Supernovas. The only way a supernova occurs is when a white dwarf (or an extremely huge star) reaches critical mass, and undergoes a thermonuclear explosion. After the explosion, the white dwarf's matter would be molten.

To clear things up a bit, white dwarfs and black holes make up much of a spiral galaxy's center of gravity, so they are predominant at a spiral galaxy's center. White dwarfs don't have a mass equal to that of the sun either. In fact, they have about half the mass of the sun, with the approximate volume of the earth. Twilight's mass isn't the entirety of a white dwarf, so it is feasible that Surtur, or even Thor could lift it.

We're all entitled to our opinions, but I am curious as to how strong you believe Superman to be. That makes a big difference.

The guy gave me a complement and you just trashed me. That wasn't kind at all. Do you search for everything I post and reply in hateful retaliation?

Help me understand. 🙁
