Sounds suspicious. I believe thats a trick he would use more than once, and I know it wasnt during a battle.

Check it out, if you like. He did it to save Jane Foster's life. Whether he did it once, or a thousand times, he has proven that he can do it. It was not during a fight, but that's irrelevant.

Sounds like bad writing to me cause the Marvel Handbook dont mention such a power and if he had it Im sure they would. You may be right Cosmic Cube but there might be more to the story than your telling.

Fights aren't based on strength alone.

I know.Sometimes you just have to use your mind instead of your strength to win a fight.

<<However, that does not hold much sway in this fight. If Thor stops time, there isn't anything Superman can do.>>

i'm gonna have to agree with snoop (it was snoop, wasn't it?) when he said this is not a viable option. that happened over forty years ago in REAL time! and in that issue he stopped time, saved jane, THEN went on to fight cobra and hyde. why didn't he just beat them while time was stopped? and thor has been in many WORSE situations since and has never used that ability. the thor character was barely 2 years old at the time - i suspect kirby and lee were still feeling out his abilities and powers. since it's been 41 years since the last time he did that, the ability should certainly be termed an aberration, and should be discarded.

I don't think that if time stopped Superman would stop.

What he said...only better.

Characters often have more powers than the Handbook list. Mjolnir rivals the power cosmic in versatility and raw power. I'm not leaving out any details on this one.

Hell, Superman's guides say nothing about vibrating through matter, but he did it.

It would have been pretty cheap if Thor had just stopped time and defeated all of his opponents. Even cheaper than Superman vibrating through Doomsdays attacks.

Thor has never been retconned. Why should this ability be discarded?

Yeah Cube, but that happened years ago--even if it was one of Thor's last resorts he would've used it by now. Like leo said, they were still feeling Thor out at that time.

It would be pretty ****ty if he could stop time on a whim, even for Thor.

I dont know but I would like to read the book to get the whole story.

BTW it looks like Superman is gaining ground on Thor in the polls.

****ttier than vibrating through an attack? I suppose.

to allow that to stand though, cube, implies too much. thor would be undefeatable. if he can stop time then beat the crap out of supes, he could stop time and beat the crap out of ANYONE! ss, warlock, glads, strange, thanos - thor could crush them all at ONCE! your position implies that it would take a galactus level character to beat him. (i say galactus because presumably, since g>odin, g could supercede thor's time altering skill) clearly that is not logical, nor consistent with the thor charatcer that has been established over the last 40 years.

The same is true of Superman. How would it be possible for anyone to defeat him if he can simply vibrate through any attack?

Stopping time(forty years ago) or vibrating through attacks?

Cosmic are you serious. There is a big difference.

Fourty years ago. Thor hasn't changed since.

I'm very serious. Elaborate, if you will. How is it possible to hurt Superman if he can vibrate through any attack?

1. Stop time 😆
2. Telepathy.
3. Strong doses of Krptonite radiation in the area where he is standing.
4. Sonic attack of high magnitude.

These may not stop him but its a good place to start.

Superman is invulnerable to telepathy. You already stated this.

Couldn't he just vibrate through the Kryptonite? 😆

You can't be serious. Three ways to stop Superman.

I was actually looking for leo to reply...

Not completely I dont think. MM can still track him I believe.

These are attacks somebody could use if he is vibrating your physical attacks or energy projection attacks.

Lets flip this question around.

How can you beat Thor is he can stop time at the blink of an eye?

Sonic attacks? Superman is faster than sound. That won't affect him.

Tracking and attacking are two different things. I asked for means of defeating him, not monitoring him.

The truth is, there aren't any. Superman vibrating through attacks is the epitome of bad writing.
