They sure raped him.

Well, I thought the geriatrics weren't too bad. After all, it's not the years, it's the mileage.

I saw Rambo IV tonight on tv... another old timer reliving the eighties. It would be more fitting if he had machine guns hidding in the legs of his walker.

LOL It would at that. 🙂

Its funny that you mention that....Cause it relates to a point I just thought of regarding the quality of villainy in Indy IV, but I shall post it in that thread.

I read it but the villainny there was a bit one facetted. Not enough for Indy IMHO. Rambo needs a reason to go on a simlar gore rampage. Hence the enemy must do at least the same so he 'deserves' it.

They'd have been better than the Russians in Indy IV though.

True... Man, quite a lot of bodies cut in half and decapitated...

Yep. We havent seen such mutilation and decapitation since the holy grail temple traps.

Thats the problem, even in the most family orientated of the original three films, there was cool stuff like that happening, yet not a bit of it in KOTCS/TAOS.

Nanny-state scriptwriting.

Family orientated? Rambo?

Sure.

It never hurt me.
I was like nine or ten when I watched First Blood and I recognised it for the genius that it was. 😛

Some of Rambo IV was kinda killing-families-orientated. If that counts.

FB was allright. It got shaky with the rather continuity lacking and senselessly violent Rambo FB2 that I got some serious doubts.

Yes it was.
The moral of the story in Rambo:FBprtII was:

'Dont ever kill a friend of Rambo's that can give him a necklace to remember them by.' 😛

First Blood will always be a classic.

'Or he will take his shirt off and kill everyone half naked showing off his oily steroid muscles for everyone not to enjoy.'

You forgot a bit.

It really didnt stick out in my mind in the first place to be honest.

Dont you have him confused with Jason Staham...?

😖

Heck no... In R-FB2... he runs through the jungle with his oily chest, holding an M60 and wiping out dozens of VC's... And blowing one up into shredded meat with an explosive arrow.

The arrow part was cool and I remember the epic scale of conflict but I prefer the level of detail in Rambo 4.

I Hadn't much caught onto that oily man aspect before...
I remember some plot and action scenes, but I'll take your word for it. ....and if so.. that might be why Rambo was a box office smash. The action flick for the guys that had something for the ladies too. Bound to have been a factor. Selling it out for the hollywood buck maybe.

Im more a fan of First Blood for the 'isolated nutter in the wilderness against the odds being hunted' formula that made Die Hard a compelling violent masterpiece those years later.
I still think it to be the best of all the movies.
With 4 as a second. 3(havent seen that for years either) then 2.

FB is the best and basically the only one worth wtachinh IMHO.

Yep. But the sheer killing spectacle that is Rambo IV will always get a watch round here.
Plus that memorable SAS guy with that "Come and have a go at me, You ladyboy c**t..!" line.
A fantastic bit of British swearing in my delivered in my local accent.

Hehehe... oh, now I get it. He was cooler than Rambo in fact.

Cool. 😄

Well he certainly never greased up and "did a Statham" for the big buck. lolz

He was in LOST too. He was Desmond's drill instructor/sergent.

Oh yeah... Now I know. Very good. Rambo's moved up a notch.

With his new Lostian influence, will Rambo, in movie #5 be phasing in and out of time back to ass kickings he gave countries in the 70s and 80s...? 'Cause if he invades Afghanistan again in 1986, He should just stay there...and wait 20 or so years....
