Batman R.I.P.

Started by Blind25 pages

You know, like the whole bat radio, bat mite (or whatever), the colorful costume, the whole zurrenalahaha thing I just don't get... a lot of it. I'm thinking it's going to read nicely in a trade, but it's kind of confusing right now.

I mean, Batman's crazy - what guy who wears tights and a mask isn't? - but he's never been THIS crazy... am I right?

The Batman of Zur-en-arrh is a backup personality implanted by Bruce in case something like this happened. Batmite, the gargoyles etc are apparently all in his imagination, probably other stuff implanted by him in order to help him.

By Batman. "Batman prepares for everything". Morrison is making effort to show the two as separate beings.

IGN: What's your take on the Bruce Wayne/Batman relationship? When you started your run with "Batman and Son," we saw a more light-hearted take on Bruce, where he was almost a fun-loving James Bond character. Now, we're starting to see him regress to the darker, troubled character that's more recognizable to modern readers. How do you see the relationship between Bruce and Batman?

Morrison: Bruce Wayne and Batman are inseparable, but in Batman's eyes, Bruce is often a persona or mask that he has to use. I still think that Bruce and Batman are the same guy, but only Batman himself can maybe see that Bruce is a little different – he tries to act differently as Bruce. He imagines this is the person he might have turned out to be, which would have been more light-hearted and a lot more witty. Because that's the guy he is and has always been. So I think it's Batman himself who actually splits the personality, because Bruce and Batman are really the exact same person. Batman carries out the need for Bruce to avenge his parents and put order into the world or whatever. But it's the same guy, and maybe getting him to realize that is the important thing. That's a big step for Batman.

Yeah, I get that. But don't you think that's kind of dumb? I mean, seriously... a backup personality for Batman?

No. No. I just don't like it. The whole being bat-crap crazy is starting to wear thin on me.

Zur-en-arrh? That name is stupid, too, by the way. I just want to say. Half the people who are reading it can't even say it, and it is just ridiculous.

"you're batman, you prepare for everything, even psychological attacks." You know what would have made this interesting - had Batman NOT prepared for it. No contingency plan.

In fact, that's probably what happened, he's just off his rocker.

I think the best Bats stories are the ones where he isn't prepared. And this is just shaping up to be kind of... I don't know... maybe gimmicky isn't the right word, but it feels kind of gimmicky.

Does anybody agree with me on this or am I alone?

Just read TEC # 848.

My gosh...I'm speechless. This is by far Dini's most darkest and disturbing story so far. With all honestly....R.I.P. seems so small now compare to Heart of Hush.

Selina...my gosh...that was just barbaric and not human.

Bruce is going to grind Hush to pieces.

It was pretty messed up.

Batman's just gonna beat him severely.

Scans?

Not that I don't enjoy a good laugh, but at least try to comment on a story without trying to demean another one and show your bias.

Especially when it's part of Morrison's RIP story, as evident by the cover.

Just like the people claiming the tie-ins are better than Crisis. THEY ARE THE CRISIS. It's all Morrison's story.

But the tie-ins are better. That doesn't have to be a remark on Morrison's ability.

EDIT - And I've never heard anything about Morrison being involved with LO3W since that doesn't have anything to do with the proper Final Crisis.

And also, can someone please, and I'll use spoiler tags for this:

Spoiler:
How the hell did Hush transport Selina, cut open and still barely alive to the Gotham hospital?! Did he drive her there machines and all?! Did he just roll her body toward the hospital's direction, because that would've caused her death. It didn't make sense to me one bit how she just turned up at the hospital.

And it really does get tedious at times how Bruce has to be pushed to these insane, off the wall limits and all he will do is severely beat the bad guy and move on. Here's hoping he does something else to Hush and Black Glove, and no, I'm not talking about killing them.

Saying heart of Hush is better than RIP may not be biased, it may just be the truth. Wow. My jaw dropped when I saw that last page. Didn't it say she was transported in an ambulance and the driver ran off? Or did I imagine that?

Oh, you're right. I completely missed that! Thanks for reminding me, but I wonder, can a single amublance carry all that equipment? I'm sure she was only hooked up to the minimum, but still.

No problem. That's what I'm here for.

You're just lucky I'm being nice right? Cause you know... some people play tennis, I erode the human soul.

Totally kidding. But yeah, It's still a lot of equipment and stuff. Hush really seems like he's coming into his own as a Batman Villain. I'm kind of hoping he is seen in the cape and cowl a little, but at the same time... yeah... just not sure I feel THAT good about it lasting more than one issue.

This series is getting alittle messy and all over the place, I can't wait till it's released in an easy to follow graphic novel.

Indeed getttin messy....here is an example:

In Batman and the Outsiders #11 the batcave is completely destroy. Oliver is the first one to get there and discover it. Then when Superman arrives he cannot believe the destruction. Alfred is nowhere to be found.

In Nightwing #148 Dick crashes into the batcave and Alfred assist him. Dick and Alfred talk about how Bruce is gone. The area where the batmobile is always parked looks fine.

How did the batcave get destroy and build up again?

Simple....They have to bring in Superman to solve the problem. That comes to show you that Morrison writes one mess and other writers have to fix it.

To complicate matters...we go back to Batman and The Outsiders #11 the last page.... "SHAZAM!" Batman appears!

But is it the real Batman? Or an impostor?
Go figure....
