You kinda make my point here. Anakin was a whiny little brat that showed signs of insanity and evilness throughout the movies (not to forget that he was quite contrary to what Obi Wan said in the OT, but nevermind that). If someone came to you telling you "Wow, Blax, there's this guy, he's pretty whiny, and he slaughtered people a few years back, and he can't really control his emotions, and he has some phony love scenes with some girl and he lies a lot...but guess what happened...he turned evil...shock" would you really think ... "oh...that's great...should really make a movie about this, is a moving story that".I don't know, I prefer the message of "Even really ****ing bad people can find redemption" to "Well, pretty bad people can turn a bit worse".
I would have had no problem with Vader turning good if it had been done over the course of more then just the last forty minutes of a movie. The man spent the entire 2nd movie slaughtering his own men because they didn't get his coffee right, torturing one of the main characters, and slicing off the hand of the other. He went from being the epitome of a big nasty to redeemed in such a short time that it bothered me.
