I know I'm going to sound homophobic, but aren't there enough jokes about Cap and Bucky (just like Batman and Robin) without having a homosexual actor play Cap?

Well you sound like your homophobic because it did'nt stop a Gay Actor to play Magneto.

Would a gay man say this?! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=riTmalXedUA&feature=channel_page

Are there gay jokes about Magneto and Bucky as well?

No, But thats not the point.

I can't. He's British. A British actor can't play Captain America. 🙄

Just like a British actor can't play Batman, right? What a disaster that would be.

Oh; wait a minute... 😖hifty:

Of course it is. Blind pointed out that Captain America already has gay jokes about him and having a homosexual play him would only fuel the fire. Magneto doesn't have that, as far as I know.

And i'm trying to get at is have a homosexual actor play these characters means nothing regardless of the jokes that may exist.

Again, I love Captain Jack Harkness as much as the next guy, but I just don't think it would do well for Captain America to have a gay actor playing him, when there's already enough stuff flying about with him having a young male sidekick. Look at Clooney playing Batman - he played him as a gay male! I just don't see it working. Call me what you want, but I want Cap to be played well, and by an actor who is going to play him without a personal agenda. And you can't watch Torchwood and say there isn't one on the side of Russell T. Davies and John Borrowman.

Moving on... have they made ANY announcements lately about this? I know Sam Jackson is having a hard time securing his Nick Fury role...

Neither is Val Kilmer... or George Clooney. 😐

In the eyes of the majority of fans & critics, Christian Bale is the definitive Batman/Bruce Wayne. And he's British.

So you can find an actor to play Cap from anywhere, so long as his accent is good & has the look.

I think people in the U.S. would be just as offended having a british actor play captain AMERICA, as the English would a yank playin' Bond.

I wouldn't.. I love British actors/actresses.. if a Brit is the choice than i'm sure he will be a good choice

And I wouldn't have a problem with an American playing Bond... but I don't think that'll happen.

I wouldn't want an American playing Bond...

the only way an american would play bond would be in a parody

And besides Bond is British in the books which the films were based on.
