Yes, we were discussing those candidates on the previous page.
That they could consider that doofus from The Office...it's like DC pursuing Jack Black to be Hal Jordan (which was ridiculous.)

Yeah..........Wales, UK Christian Bale is from and he's playing an American

he does a decent job in the role, Except for the complaints concerning The Dark Knight.

oh, i never had any 😄

Same here.

....Should have had an announcement by now.

Is Marvel afraid to say they've found no one better than John Krasinski? 😘

Found a teaser poster off a site connected to Rotten Tomatoes.

Could be legitimate - though date at the bottom should be July 2011, instead of May 2011.

Who do you think should play Red Skull?

personally i think they should get Christoph Waltz.

I think it should be someone younger, in the same age group as the actor playing Steve. He'll spend most of the movie in the Skull mask I'm sure. I was going to suggest Til Schweiger or Thomas Kretschmann, but both are in their late 40's now. So someone who's of Swiss, Austrian or German descent, and under 30...

You know what they did in the previous Captain America movie, is show the Red Skull being the result of the Super Soldier formula gone wrong. That's still a fairly good idea. Otherwise, he'll have to play it like the Heath Ledger Joker, being so fiendishly cunning he can beat Steve with his brains.

I saw that movie, it made him disfigured then he had surgery...was kinda scary and yet sad at the same time

The movie wasn't too bad but then i wasn't expecting anything great, if I had my expectations too high then I'd have hated it

Does anyone think they might have a lead and not be telling anyone?

I mean, it was scheduled to shoot in a couple of months and as far as WE know, there's no lead, no CAST (To my knowledge), no synopsis.

Thor is meant to pre-date it by a couple of months in 2011, and they're shooting.

doh

The best case scenario is the Michael Keaton Batman one, with John Krasinski. Miscast, but does a good enough job that he doesn't embarrass himself or the film - but it's nowhere near mythic.

He looks too much like Goofy to me. THIS is their guy?
Please tell me it's a smokescreen...somebody.

I like that Garrett Hedlund is still in the mix. He played Patrocles in Troy, and looked a lot like Brad Pitt's Achilles ( remember at one point he puts on the armour and plays Achilles perfectly), and also looks good in the Tron: Legacy trailer.

I know its been mentioned but Nathan Fillion gets my vote for Captain America. The age issue doesn't matter really, Bale managed to come across as younger in Begins and then mature as the film went on.

He can do action , humour and he does have a build and look you could associate with Captain America. The accent doesn't matter as we know the character from a soundless medium so its not that big a deal, Fillion still sounds American. Plus he's worked on DC cartoons doing voiceovers for characters so he's worked on some superhero stuff...

I just think if they went with someone just because they've got the pretty boy look the film will fall flat. Some actors that just look like him won't have the experience or presence to pull it off.

i think Chris Pine may be able to pull it off. or how about the guy who plays Peter petrellie in heros?
or if Ray Park could get rid of his Acent get him to do it.

i disagree, i think in steve rogers/ca's case you need an actor that is between 20-30..

agree on pine.. milo from heroes doesn't look like he'd be able to tackle this type of role.. park is much better suited for the highlander reboot if they ever get that done

In my opinion a younger actor in a superhero movie is more likely going to be given goofy catchphrases and act like a strutting macho man.

Steve Rogers is kind of a serious man (thats how I see him) who has the military bearing of a soldier and is very old fashioned considering he jumps from his time into modern day. That is if they do it that way, but if they do you need an actor who can bring that sense of history with him.

I'm not saying Fillion is perfect but consider this: his character in Firefly/Serenity brings some of the qualities that Steve Rogers possesses. He's certainly old-fashioned, he's a leader of his crew and fights to protect them sometimes at the cost of himself, is a militaristic sort of character fighting for his freedom (rebel, not a soldier as such but it doesn't matter). Like I mentioned before I believe he has the look.

Rogers can't emerge into the future as a green 20-year old rookie or it would be foolish to expect him to carry his own movie or lead The Avengers with any authority (which he certainly would in a movie).
